Alright so the other day I'm at Starbucks minding my own business, oblivious to people around me and buying the Sunday edition of New York Times. The girl behind the counter looks cute, but I'm not really caring to hit on her (I know, I know...) Instead she suprises me by saying "Hey, you look familiar..." She had a grin on her face, but I think she might have been using an opener on me. Having a lot of experience using openers, you get a sense of how well you come across to the opposite sex. Well, she came across really well, I'm really thinking she was saying it as an opener, which is a great opener, if one can make it seem genuine.
My buddy said two different girls have said the same thing to him. He knew neither. In one case, he ended up hanging out with the girl for two hours after she said this to him. He just went along with it, and even though he knew none of the names of aquintances he "might" know, he pretended that he did, and got her number.
I feel I should've said something besides "Do I?" and "I don't think I know you..." as it is unconfident and negative, respectively.
It completly threw me off, I didn't/don't know what I could have said. Anyone have this happen? Anyone know what to say in that situation?
