    Default Stacking material forward

Hey guys, pretty new to the game, and one of the problems I have is being able to stack material forward. Mostly this is an issue with the opener, where I'll get through and won't have anything to transition to. I know I can do a cold read, but I'm really not very good at those (all that I can really do successfully is "Wait a minute- are you guys best friends, or what?" which gets pretty old, pretty fast). So I'm curious how you guys stack your DHVs forward in your openers.

I realize canned material is more or less considered training wheels until you can come up with your own stuff, but I'm new to the game, so I haven't really formulated much, and I learn much better from examples than instructions, haha.

Basically you just want to use the opener to do what it says; open them up. By opening them up you can engage in a conversation about basically anything you want. You might want to get some dhv stories for a little later into the conversation. At the beginning though just either start off with a cold read or even ask them a question. Say if you started off with a direct approach and told them that they looked cute and you just had to come over and tell them. Follow that up with 'you two remind me of my sister. She's really adorable, i'm actually looking for a present for her 'What do you think she would like?'. Or if you want to stay away from canned material just tell them what you're doing. It doesn't really have to be exciting just as long as you're doing other things to be attractive, Kino etc... Say you're looking for a sweater. Touch her shoulder if she's wearing one and tell her you like the material, and ask her where she got it. Maybe not such a good idea if it's pink with a unicorn on it . Once you get past the comfort stage you can start telling stories and expanding on things that in your life or there's. Just make sure you don't rush into this stage because nobody cares about a random strangers life. Just make sure they're comfortable first and you will then not be creepy but rather developing a connection.

Tempest's right, an opener is just to open, then talk about anything.

In all honesty, if you randomly segue to a topic that is just a little bit related to your situation then a) you can easily stack forward, and b) it shows you're Alpha because you lead the convo.

If segues don't come naturally then watch a few high-energy talk shows like Conan or Ellen to see the way they transition and "stack forward" to whatever else they want to talk about. Also for multiple threads.

I used this one recently in the campus food court:
Me: "Hey, I'm new, can I join you?"
    HB (2 set) : "Sure"
Me: "I'm digging this pizza... what is this cardboard? It tastes almost like bread..."
    * HB&Me Fluff about low quality of the food
Me: "What's good to do around town? I've mostly been staying on campus."
HB: "Oh yeah a few things..."
    * Me&HBs Fluff about local nightlife and attractions and on-campus housing
Me: "What are you studying? I've only met like two people in my program and they are both really creepy guys who look like they deal Star Trek parafanalia on ebay." (P.s. I have been looking for a bat'leth for a while )
    *Fluff about majors

And really you don't need any pre-amble, just start a new convo thread when or before the old one begins to trail off.
