I recently moved cities (to San Francisco) and I've been going out trying to meet some new women. The problem is, I literally can't hear a word girls say when I'm out. I've always known I don't have the best hearing, but in college, I was always at the bar with people/girls I knew, so I didn't need to say anything, body language could get the messages across. But being in a new city and not knowing too many people, I'm trying to reach out and meet people! Maybe its a combination of being tall (I'm 6'4) and them speaking softly? Either way, I was trying to talk to a girl and her friend and I could barely make out a word they were saying and the conversation just got awkward when I could build it.
EDIT: I put clubs in the title. I should have put bars. I mean, anywhere that has a raised level of music, which is basically any bar, I find myself hard of hearing.
Has anyone else run into this issue? I was thinking my best bet is to walk around the bar and see if there isn't somewhere that is slightly quieter and try to bring someone there to chat, but that isn't always an option.
Anyways, long time lurker, first time poster. Thought I would get what I've been troubled with off my mind.
