Default How are you? -Work Related

At my new job I'm secluded from the rest of the employees, so the only time for the most part I see them is when they're coming and going from work, and when they see me sitting at my booth (valet), either of us usually say something.

It just so happens the most asked question "How are you?"

I've done fine with non-typical questions so far, but since I will be working there for a while I'm going to eventually sink into the dreaded "Fine, you?" answer.

I work at a restaurant where all the serving, hosting, and management staff are minimum HB 7.5/10s, thus keeping flirty and fun with all of them is going to be a bit of a challenge as the weeks go on.

How would you react to that question, preferably in a flirty or dhv way?

If they ask you," How are you doing?"

Reply with, " You know us valets... over paid and under worked! I love this job!" Just don't say that to your boss.

Everyday that you work you should come up with a unique response to that question. I do that in my life. I come up with something new and different almost everyday. Pay attention to what's happening around you and it's easy to come up with stuff.

When it's raining I use this, " I doing well. If you can bring out your magic wand and make the rain disappear i will be doing fantastic!" In the Vancouver area it rains a lot during the winter we get very little snow. You can adapt this to if it's snowing, too sunny, too muggy etc. Once they laugh you can transition to something else.

Always say it with enthusiasm like you are absolutely the most fun guy to be around.

You really have to be careful about flirting and pickup in the workplace. Your boss probably won't like it if he caught you trying to pick up their employees on company hours. I never extend my flirting from light banter when I'm in the workplace, but when I get the opportunity to take it out of there I jump on it.

To catch their attention, I agree with everything that dave said. Your goal is to make them love you. In order to do that, you have to adopt the roll of the entertainer, which means that your goal is to try and make everyone smile and happy to see you when you walk through that door. That is always my goal, and it has worked out to where three of the girls at my job have carried things outside of the workplace to try and pick me up. I wasn't going for any of it, but that's just an idea of what you're in store for

In-breeding is an epidemic in the service industry, especially restaurants and bars. In the PUA guides you read it's listed as a real challenge... unless you work there! It's basically the one place where you're practically expected to pick up your co-workers.

So kudos on that, you're maybe not in as good a position as if you worked inside, but you're way more likely to bag those HB10s than any customer. Be aware of your competition in the other staff, though.

Only exception is don't pickup in front of customers... or in front of the boss... unless the boss is an HB... in which case pickup the boss! if you don't, some other staffer will, and whoever gets her, you'll have to be his bitch because he'll be in with the boss... so yeah, that's the guy you wanna be.

A word of caution: many companies frown upon boss/employee relationships. To the point that I've known a few who have gotten each other fired because of it. That said, it's generally only immediate supervisors they don't want you hooking up with. If you're a valet and the HB happens to manage the restaurant, more power to you!
