I think she might still text you because she probably started to view you as a friend. the whole story sounds like she thought you were friends because i'll be honest you showed very little indication you were into her, as far as i read it.
to me it sounds like a dance. you'd sit near her. then you'd sit far away. she was probably just really confused. If you guys never kissed or you never suggested you go out on a date (aside from that coffee date you mentioned - whatever transpired there? did you even go? it was mentioned once and then it doesn't sound like you ended up doing it) I'm just guessing to her she's wondering, why did he invite me to coffee and then never follow through? i told him i wanted to go.
(maybe that's a misreading of what happened...)
but reading stories like this, who else sees it how i see it? i mean why not just cut to the chase and ask her out? and just be more direct with what you want?
did anyone else feel bad at how much time was wasted trying to get this girl in the most subtle indirect way possible? and how it ultimately didn't go anywhere?
the girl sounds like a straightforward, no-nonsense girl but she also sounds like she did like you but was probably wondering the same thing about you...when is he going to make an actual move? this is just a guess.
I'm also curious - you mentioned something about how if she didn't want you to hit on you anymore, why is she texting you, or something to that effect.
when did she indicate that she does not want you to hit on her? i must have missed that part.
and subquestion: where is there evidence she even thought of what you were doing was hitting on her? she probably didnt mind it because she didnt realize what you were doing!
