    Default Backflip Opener

    Hi guys

I'm a martial arts tricker and doing backflips is the way I get off my bed in the morning! ;-)

I really dislike arrogant people and I don't wanna look arrogant to others using my opener. My best friend keeps telling that it is a stupid and arrogant thing to do and I would like to know what you think of it.

My friend is complaining that it's really hard to meet cool people (hot chicks and just male friends to hang out) but he holds me back on opening. I never really told him that I read pick up books, because he thinks it doesn't work and it's poor. I need to convince him.

My opener would be like this:

"Excuse me, I'm working on a magic trick, it's supposed to surprise people, but I'm not sure if it works. Can you give me a feedback?"

So i tell them to focus on what I'm doing with my hands and I start to wave around with them til I do a backflip and continue

"I escaped from the circus, because I always wanted to join the macicians but they always put me to the acrobats..."

"Do you also think I wouldn't fit to the macicians?!"

Do you think it's too much? I thought it could increase my value since not everybody can do a backflip.

How could I improve my opener? Is it too much showing off? What are your openers?

    You're waaaaaay over-thinking this.
And that opener would be a little "try hard"... Like you're trying to impress them.

However; doing something is better than nothing.

Just be relaxed & confident & have fun. Dont worry about the outcome. Just get comfortable with approaching.

    Thx for your reply.

I thought if I impress them, I gain a lot of value. Or do I look needy? And it will also open a lot of questions for them and my sport is a subject I really enjoy talking about.

You're too focused on talking about specific subjects & having deep conversations. That's how you build rapport

Don't build rapport before you build attraction. That's how you end up in the friend zone.

Be fun & flirty in the very beginning.

That opener is WAY too long to deliver. It also makes it look like you're trying way too hard. Keep the opener simple and then show interest in your target or flirt (as T-Mal wrote).

Pick out something about the girl that she is wearing, walk up to her and open her with a compliment like:

"Hey, I had to come over and say hi to you or I would be kicking myself the rest of the day. I like the way you did your hair today."

You show interest and confidence in going up to her. It also shows that you're observant to the fact that she probably spent 30 minutes doing that hairstyle. It doesn't have to be hair, you can compliment her on what she's wearing, jewelry or her shoes.

Just don't tell her, " You're so beautiful" or "You're so hot".....

Thanks for your opinions. I think you're right, I'm really trying it too hard, if I would do this.

But I don't think throwing compliments at my target is going to help me.

By the way, is there somewhere a list with good openers?

The way that you wanted to use it is pretty bad, but there's hope. As I see it, there are two salvageable ways to use this. And use it rarely, this isn't an every night type of approach.

Situation One: You're standing with your boys. You notice their are women in the area. Do the backflip. Hi five your boys, turn and hi five the chicks. Boom the set is open. When they ask you about the backflip, don't tell them anything. "That's between me and the boys, we are sworn to secrecy. In fact, if I tell you I'll have to hammerfist you in the neck. You seem nice, I don't want to hammerfist you in the neck."

Situation Two: I would see the backflip also as a one up element of teasing. When I'm interacting with women, I frequently tease them. IF YOU HAVE THE NECCESARY SOCIAL calibration, I see using this along the lines of.

You're in conversation. She's giving you ioi's. You can tell she's in to you.

You: (out of the blue) Can you cook?

    Her: No

You: Boo, I thought you were so cool. What can you do to impress me, otherwise I'm taking the kids and the dogs and leaving."

Her: I can sing, but I'm not going to do it here.

You: (Backflip) You're so not cool. I do what I want, when I want. Luckily for you, I'm teaching "How to be cool classes for (Blondes, Redheads, Brunettes, whatever she is) starting next week for the low low price of 19.95.....per minute."

That being said, backflips in a place with lots of people and/or alcohol should be used sparingly.
