I just started training at my new job and there is this really adorable hipster-ish girl. She's a doe-eyed brunette, 5'4, smart, and into history. Compared to a bang-wow drop dead hottie 10, she's a 6, maybe 7 if she was dressed to kill. I'm crushing on her bad. I mentioned living in ohio for school to someone else, and she turns around and starts talking to me. Turns out she went to the same school, with the same major and the same interests as I have. She doesn't like the party/nightclub scene, she reads the New Yorker, one of those types. I think there might be a slight possibility that she digs me a little too, but I'm really not sure and I don't make any assumptions. She could just be friendly.
When we leave, she says "are you taking the train back home?" (we live in the same town). I said yes, along with some other people. On the train ride back, me and the girl are talking the whole time. It's not flirty or sexual, but more intellectual, more of an expression of shared interests. Not an exciting convo, but more or less interesting because I'm getting to know her. I don't want to overdo it, you know, because I'm going to be interacting with her on a daily basis for 3 months. I'm trying to be interesting. She is doing her part in the conversation. Then again, she could just be friendly and hate awkwardness. I'm making it clear that I'm talking to her, and only her, maybe she felt cornered was just too nice to move away or let the conversation die and embarrass me.
At one point, a conductor comes along and asks for tickets at a train stop. One of my other friends (who I had also met in training the previous day, so I wouldn't really say he's my "friend") had a fake ticket, and the conductor took him out of the train. Me and the cute girl didn't "verify" (stamp) our tickets, so we had to run out and get them verified before the train left. We didn't make it, so now it's me, my friend talking to the conductor, and the cute girl, waiting for the next train.
Another train comes along shortly. Me and the cute girl aren't really in trouble, and I say "let's get out of here," and she says "yes, let's." I look back at my friend and I feel guilty, so then I say, "You know, I'm probably going to wait for him," and she starts toward the train "I'm just going to go home," then stops, saying "oh, now I feel really bad, leaving him here, but," the train doors were beeping, about to close, "but I'm really tired and I want to go home." Then I look at my friend, who is motioning to us with his hand to leave without him, like a 'go, this might take a while' wave. I needed no more convincing because I wanted to spend as much time with this girl as possible, so we get on the train together. We talk the rest of the ride, and get off at our stop, where another person from our work is waiting for fake ticket friend in order to smoke his weed, which he mentioned having (keep in mind, all of us met the previous day, nobody is close yet). I contemplated waiting as well, but once again, I don't really know this guy, and I would rather talk to attractive girls than get high (I can't do both). So I walk back with her. At one point she says, "blah, I'm really out of it today, I'm having trouble with words' and 'I must sound really boring.' I say 'yeah, I'm falling asleep' sarcastically but I delivered it badly. We part on a street corner, go our seperate ways.
1. Was it Sh1tty of me to ditch my friend? I met him the previous day, me and another dude went to bar and had some drinks, played pool, then we went to his place and chilled for a bit. We met up and went to work together this morning. I've known him for two days, tomorrow will be my third. He's a cool guy. Would he be considered my "friend" or just an aquaintance? Do think he expected us to wait for him?
2. Am I showing too much interest in the girl? I definitely did not show that I was willing to walk away.
3. When she said "I'm out of it today" and "I must sound really boring" is she making excuses because she's not interested in talking to me and now has to walk with me for a bit, or because she's self conscious?
4. How should I flirt with her in the future?
thanks for reading my novel, (sorry it's so long), responses are appreciated!!!
