Re: Example of a DHV?
These are my dhv stories that I took from my thread, I have rehearsed and use this countless times, here they are:
This story I use after I have Opened and I ask what they do, I explain what I do after she has said what she does, I take the lead and say "you know talking about work is boring, what do you do for fun (emphasis on the fun). I let her say that she does for fun and then I say "haha that's awesome, I love being a public activist, I talk about the injustice in the world. I have always taken a dislike when people do such cruel things to people in the world and I have always felt the need to stand up against it, I mean the rush you get from going on stage and standing up for what you believe gives me a real surge of energy, just like one you get from talking to someone who you really like (make strong eye contact), do you do anything like that gives you a similar feeling?" I would ground this story with a segment on my ex and all the people I disliked at school and I hated the popularity system so one day a few month after this break up I went on stage during assembly and told the truth about everyone and I literally changed the way people treated each other ever since and how I didn't even care that I got suspended for a whole week.
This next story I would lead in with asking "what is your favourite childhood memory?" she would normally give a response and I would ask how she felt at the time and improvise with the story. Then I take the lead again and say "You know this may sound weird but this is literally my favourite moment as a child but I used to be really good friends with this girl Alice and we used to always walk to school together (pre-selection), one day as we where walking we found a birds nest near the path with eggs in it, I looked at her and saw that she felt so sad for the eggs that even I was going to cry, so I said "screw it" and took the birds nest with us and we both walked into class with this nest, so I told my teacher to find a way to take care of the eggs, when I finally convinced the headteacher to get an incubator for them, Alice literally jumped on me and gave me the best hug I can ever remember, I just felt great doing it and from then on I just loved helping animals and just people in general."
Palm reading, "I was taught this by my mate Maxine who lives just up the road from me and we where awesome friends, so one day she taught me how to palm read. Here give me your hand and I can show you."
This one I use while we talk about sports we like: "I know you may not like football but I used to be the captain of my school team for a while, no one ever took me seriously and thought I could do it, but it just felt so galvanizing when we used my tactics and commands and won like nearly every game. It was hard fitting in to the role and I was always more into my subjects like science and maths, it was hard to deal with the boundaries of being a footballer or a science geek but I managed to like balance the best of both worlds. I mean like why should everything we do black and white? Like being a musician and also having fun playing sports and doing well in my subject gives me so much to do. It like jump started me into becoming a leader, I absolutely love it and I can tell you have a similar authority around your friends which is really cool."
I am only responsible for what I say, not what you understand - The proverb of a true activist.
