    Default HB9 help please.

I was playing basketball at college like always, but there were spectators this time. I was playing damn good, every shot I took went in. Her and her friend were watching the game aswell, and they started shouting my name to show that they were supporting me. But as a matter of fact, I don't even know them. It seems like they either learned my name from Facebook or from a mutual friend. After the game ended, everyone was going home because it was around 5 PM. We were taking some last shots with my friend and my friend's shot took a bad bounce off the rim and ended up on HB9's head. I went to take the ball and she started yelling like "Watch out! What do you think you are doing?" and I said "Sorry, It was an accident!" and kept taking shots.

The last bit seems like a good conversation starter to me, about the ball ending up on her head. Any ideas?

Your first mistake is that you weren't supposed to apologize, you didn't do it, your friend did. You could have said a cocky funny, like, well then next time get your head out the way (With a smile) this isn't anything big, you can always talk to them again. Just because a ball hit her head doesn't make it impossible for the girls to cheer for you again. You should talk to them and get to know them. You can open them on how they know your name, or tell them you like their energy because they're supporting you.

If they were rooting for you, shouting your name, still there at the gym / court after the game was over, and giving you sass about pure random physics that were out of your control, they were BEGGING for you to talk to them.

Per Jack's advice, poking fun at them for making an issue out of nothing, or punishing them for being kind of impolite would have given you reason to talk to them more.

"You girls seem a little out of place here." Wait, saying nothing while looking at them. Whatever they say to justify it (even if it is defensive), you respond "Uhh. okay. I was just making an observation. It's a little weird AND interesting that you know my name."

Wait for a response again. If they don't offer up their names WITHOUT you asking for them, then you make ANOTHER statement. "Ummm. now is when you introduce yourselves." Then continue on... "Nice to meet you, XXXX and XXXX. So, XXXX and XXXX, typically only other students are here watching us play."

And you've given them the opportunity to justify further why they are there, and you've set the frame that they are there to watch you, and you've set them up to transition away from basketball into something about THEM (school, where they're from, how you should hang out sometime).

Thanks a lot for the replies guys! I really need to develop a fast-thinking PUA brain sometime soon.
