first date No-No’s

Sometimes it seems like the major hurdle in dating is getting the girl’s phone number. Not so. Any experienced PUA will tell you that in reality, the biggest obstacle you have to overcome is ensuring that your first date is successful. It’s a make or break deal.

Usually, in the dating world, there are no second chances. If you blow it on the first date, your time is up. You won’t get a second chance. If you do, it would be a miracle, in my book. So with that said, let’s talk about ways to make your first date successful. Let's assume you already know How To Talk To A Girl and have set up your first date. In this instance, I’m going to talk about your first-date no-nos.

Here is a list of some things that could send that first date right down the drain where it can never be recovered. Any one of those things could send the most amazing women you’ve ever met, or your future wife, walking out the door. I’m not saying that these are guaranteed ways you could blow it. I’m just saying you should avoid these to be safe and to try to ensure you have as successful a date as possible.

So here are the things you should NOT do on a first date:

• Ask her to pay. This is Lame with a capital L. I’m not saying that you need to pay for the entire date, but whatever, whatever, you do, do not ask her to pay or say something idiotic, like “I don’t have enough money for the bill.” Do any of that and you are GONE. When I say that doesn’t mean she can’t contribute, that’s what I mean. For instance, a lot of times on a first date, I’ll say, “I’ve got the first round” as almost a way to see what her response is. Even if she doesn’t offer to get the second, that’s OK. It is just one thing I do to get to know what a girl is like. Also, say she asks you out and insists on paying, then do the same thing you would with your friends and say, “OK, Thanks. I got the tip.” Or better: “I got the tab at the next bar.” And the best: “Well then next Saturday night it’s all my treat.” That way you showed you’re a man and also arranged the next day. Slick, huh?

• Jump her if she’s not very, very willing and making that obvious to you. This isn’t a one-night stand, cocktail waitress pick up. This is a first date. This is an opportunity to get to know one another and will hopefully be the first of many times you get together. The best thing you can do is have enough self-control to hold off on intimacy on this first date. I would offer that even if she is all over you, suggest you both wait. It will make it even better. Trust me.

• Get drunk. If you can’t control your alcohol intake, you need to get that under control before you even start dating. Nothing is worse than a guy falling down drunk. You make yourself look like an idiot and pretty much guarantee there will be no second date.


So, follow these three tips – to start – and you’ll have a better chance of turning your first date into a second and third.
