You know the type – he’s the kind in the room who is the center of attention. It is not because he is loud or boisterous. It is not because he is the best looking guy in the room. There is some indefinable quality about this man that draws others to him like bees to honey.

He is the alpha male.

Everyone wants to be around him. The women want to go home with him. The men want to be him. Everyone wants to please him. They want to go where he goes and do what he does.

But apparently, he may be on the endangered species list.

A recent article in Women’s Health (December 2009) asked women this: Is the Alpha Male in Danger of Extinction?

A few women weighed in with their thoughts about what an alpha male was and should be (this information is golden if you are trying to learn How To Attract Women.)

One 30-year-old Texas woman said she can’t find a man within 10 years of her age who isn’t living at home with his mother and working a dead-end job. She says she is hoping to find the exception.

So an alpha male must be self sufficient and ambitious it appears.

Another woman said that women need to be more secure and proud of their femininity and that will help men embrace the alpha male part of themselves. By being both successful and feminine, women can encourage men and appreciate their alpha maleness.

So the difference between the genders should be appreciated, possibly even exaggerated to fully encourage men to get in touch with their alpha maleness.
Being an alpha male means having so much self confidence that you don’t care what anybody else thinks of you. But it doesn’t mean being a jerk. Being an alpha male also means that you care about everyone else in your pack and that you have his and her best interests at heart.

It means taking a leadership role in all things. That might mean helping two people in conflict find common ground. It might mean being the one to leave the party early to help someone else home.

It does mean leading by example.

It doesn’t mean being petty. It means being generous. The alpha male’s life is good. He has no problem sharing that goodness with others. In fact, the more he gives, the more he gets.

There is a lot of responsibility to being an alpha male, but ultimately it is worth it.

It is about taking care of your friends and family. It is about enjoying every sweet minute of your life. It means rolling with the punches and letting the bad things roll off your back. It means being honest and having integrity in everything you do. It means caring about other people and their feelings. It means being a responsible adult and taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Being an alpha male means growing up and being a man.

Cowboy up.

Man up.

Being an alpha male ultimately means leading a fulfilling, satisfying life.
