While it is true that some pick up artists (a small majority) are the scum of the earth – I’m talking the low lives of the century – I can honestly say that most of the PUA’s I know are upstanding guys. I had a chance to prove this last fall when I saw them get together and donate thousands of dollars to a breast cancer fundraiser. I saw them send hundreds of dollars only moments after receiving emails letting them know about it. The three-day walk participant they donated to ended up being the top fundraiser in her state.

That is amazing. At the drop of a hat, these men – who some say are frauds who hate women – dug deep into their own pockets to try to find a cure for breast cancer. I love it.

It just goes to show naysayers like Ross Jeffries that you can’t class a whole group into one large category based on the actions of a few individuals. Ross rips on people in the pickup artist community for making a living from what they do, while he rakes in money from trying to disparage them. Meanwhile, the majority of PUAs are in the business of encouraging a guy to be more self-confident and giving him the skills he needs to confidently meet women. We are teaching guys how to flirt, How to Approach A Girl and How to Talk to A Girl. These are all important skills.

Looking at it that way, I would say that Jeffries is the one wallowing in negativity while most pick up artists are preaching optimism and being positive.

From my experience, the majority of people in what we call the “seduction community” are really in the business of self-improvement. They are helping me become their best selves. They do this through various methods that, yes, do include techniques to attract amazing women into their lives.

Some of these tips are really basic, but sometimes need to be pointed out. For instance, me and the PUAs I associate with know that being impeccably groomed --- shaved, showered and wearing pressed and clean clothing – is basic. But some guys need to learn a bit about this and why it is so important.

Some men need to be prompted to pick up a book on body language and memorize it, so they can tell when a woman just isn’t interested. It is all about learning How To Pick Up Women. Body language is a shortcut. When they read her body language that she is not interested, then they quit pestering her and move onto the woman who is interested in talking to them. If I were a woman, I would want all men to be able to see these nonverbal signs so they wouldn’t bug me if I wasn’t interested or if they would approach me if I were sending the right signals.

Anyone who calls himself a PUA who doesn’t act with integrity, honesty, dignity and respect for women, should find a new field. So, yes, there are a few bad apples out there, but that is like saying that all women with blonde hair are dumb – just plain ignorance and stupidity. The worst thing isn’t to try to make a living as a PUA helping guys improve their lives. The worst thing is to be so close-minded that you stereotype and lump one group of people together despite their myriad differences.
