The longer I am in this business the more I realize that what women want what they truly want is for the man to take the lead. Sure, women want to be considered as partners and equals in the bigger scheme of life, but for the smaller things, where to eat, what to watch, where to go – they want a man to take the lead.

Now before any feminists get upset with me, let me just say that I am also a feminist. I love women and find them fascinating. They are often smarter, better looking and more accomplished than me and I can appreciate that about them.

So listen close to what I am saying here – women want you to have a backbone. You can show that by taking the lead. Don’t be a jerk and say “Here is where we are going, what we are going to do and what we will eat.” It’s not like that all.

Here’s how it should go down (and this is a great way to text a girl)
“I was thinking that the new Thai food restaurant on Second Street would be fun to try out tonight and then maybe we could take a walk around the lake afterward. Does that sound good to you?”

Notice how the man has deference for what the woman might want to do instead, but he has an idea, an opinion and this makes him super attractive.

Nobody, and I mean men and women, wants to take someone who says, “I don’t care.” Or “Whatever you want.” Conversely, the woman he says this too better have a backbone, as well. In my opinion, she should respond in one of two ways: yes or no.
Here’s what she should say:

“That sounds great.”

Or:

“Gosh, I’m not a really big fan of Thai food but I know there is a great sushi place near there and we could walk around the lake still afterward.”

Or even:

“I would love to try Thai food, but do you think we could skip the lake, I think I’m coming down with a cold and would rather cuddle up somewhere warm with you.”
Do you see the difference? The man is not telling the woman what to do. He is taking the lead. He is having an opinion and an idea. He is not taking anything away from the woman and her ability to be a leader or make decisions.

Ideally, once a couple is dating, whoever says this will vary. Sometimes the woman will have this great idea on what to do and sometimes the man will. The point is that both of them have opinions and can be leaders.

I have heard great stories about men going into bars, approaching a woman telling them they smell good, kissing their neck lightly and then taking their hands and leading them home for more fun. There is no reason that this can’t happen to you. Women like take charge men. It appeals to something deep inside them – as biological desire that natures has put in them no matter how strong a leader they are themselves.
