1. Too Eager. This means being the guy who acts way too excited to be in a texting conversation with the girl. But it also means being the guy who responds to her texts within seconds. To avoid being too eager, wait before you respond and consider occasionally waiting even an entire day to get back to her.

2. Too Effusive. Do not use texting as a way to tell her how cute, sexy, amazing she is. Save that for an intimate moment later on in the relationship. When you spill the beans like this, it will scare her off. She will think you are needy and kind of creepy. Play it cool, brother.

3. Too Wordy. Every single text you send to a girl should be as short and sweet as possible. I’m talking concise and to the point. Don’t ramble on. Say what you need to say and get off. Preferably, texting should be a tiny bit of flirting and the rest strictly to set up a time to meet in person. Period. The girl wants a man not a new BFF.

4. Too Revealing. Do not tell her everything you are doing and how you feel. Make sure you only reveal enough to spark her interest without giving her details of every little thing you think or do.

5. Too Boring. If you don’t have something interesting to say, whatever you do, DON’T text her. Don’t say, “Not doing much” or “Just chilling” or the worst – “Bored, what are you doing?” Don’t ever talk about being bored or not having anything to do. Either make what you are doing sound exciting or don’t text her at all until you can think of something that illustrates you have a fun, active social life.
For instance, you might say, “Playing Guitar Hero with a Friend. Kickin Butt! Woot!” This is a good one because it might leave her wondering whether that “friend” is a girl. And it shows you are having fun.
