Women Go Crazy Over Well-Groomed Men

A beautiful woman I know lives in Santa Monica, California and is absolutely intrigued by men who dress nice. I was talking to her the other day and she was describing this mysterious neighbor of hers that she was fascinated with.

She’s only lived in her townhome about a month and is meeting new people every day as she walks her dog. But this particular stranger has her intrigued.

I asked her what the deal was.

She said that every time she saw him, he had on very nice designer jeans, a button up shirt and Italian loafers. His hair always looked great and often he sported a sexy five o’clock shadow. She said his nails were always clean and trimmed and she could occasionally get the slightest whiff of cologne.

He wasn’t conventionally handsome, but his efforts to look good made her so hot for him. She said she can’t stop thinking about him and wishes all men realized how women really dig such small efforts as these.

Contrast this mysterious neighbor with most guys she runs into while walking her dog in the neighborhood: most have flip-flops, baggy shorts, and ugly t-shirts with designs on them that are at least a size too large.

Just this man’s simple efforts to be well dressed and well groomed have won her over. Now she’s just waiting for the next step – him to ask her out. She can’t wait.

So let’s recap some of those basics that should be automatic for you by now:

• Clean hair, teeth, body, nails at all times.
• Clothes that are clean, the best you can afford, and flattering to your body.

The first one is something you should already be doing, but as far as the wardrobe section, here are some more tips.
• The first step is to ruthlessly go through your closet and try on everything you own. If it is ripped or the wrong size, out it goes. Only keep the items that you KNOW, not think, but KNOW make you look hot. Ask a female friend for help in this step. Throw away everything that makes you look dumpy or frumpy no matter how sentimental the object is.
• Go to a high-end men’s clothing store and ask the salesclerk for help. Tell her or him that you need to find two pairs of super flattering jeans and about five shirts that make you look great.
• Next, invest in at least one pair of great leather shoes that are stylish and yet won’t be out of style in five years. Ask a salesclerk or stylish friend for help.
• Make sure you have a great belt.
• Spend the rest of your clothing budget on a nice blazer or leather jacket.
• As you shop, remind yourself the goal is quality over quantity.

For casual wear, this should be the only wardrobe you need. If you live in a very cold climate, you might consider investing in a nice cashmere pullover sweater in a color you’ve been told flatters you.
