Default Mystery's method outdated?

OK, I'm obviously new here and one of the surprises I found when I've been reading various threads is that the opinion around the PUAs around here is that Mystery's method is outdated. I find that interesting in that he was the first I heard of the PUA idea back when he had the show. The show wasn't really that long ago though. How are his ideas outdated already and what would people here recommend I look into instead?

His ideas are somewhat outdated, because in my opinion, his M3 model of the whole seduction process is still relevant. Why? Because it breaks down everything that's happening in the seduction dynamic into easy and intuitive points. This is going to be relevant forever.

BUT routines, gambits and what have you are the main target here. They're widely overused and mainly a cover-up for your insecurities and AFC-ness. Meaning if you'd bang 20 chicks using routines, you'll get used to it and have the confidence needed to pull that off smoothly. At some point in time, you'll realize that you really don't need HIS routines and create your own or become a natural. But if at some point in time you decide not to use routines just for the hell of it, you'll realize that without them, you're just as an AFC as you were before, if not worse.

I'm not saying they're bad or that they should cease to be used. They're great for complete beginners, since the mystery method already has all the tools they will ever need to get some pussy.

The Mystery Method SHOULDN'T be used as 100% of your game. Not even 50%. 20% is enough. One or two short routines and the rest of the time just be your best self you can be and fark that sh1t with overthinking and overanalyzing.

Wow, I just finished that book 2 days ago. Is it really so outdated? I found the negging thing to be revolutionary to me because I use to suck up to girls. And the bouncing and moving thing, I though that was just genius. It's true those gambits were far fetched but I like the cube and false palm reading. I used the cube on a girl at work just to see if it got her interest and we start talking so much that we could hardly get our work done. Even now when she looked pretty upset, I said "Is your storm catching up to you?" and she started talking to me about (something personal).

Well, it's been like 7-8 years or so since The mystery method was "invented" and released as a book in 2005. So yeah, it needs some revisions)

On the show, I find it not so revealing, probably because at that time I've read and known all the stuff he teaches to those guys. So nothing revelatory.

Spirit, don't get the wrong idea, the cube and all that sh1t is great. The concepts are great. The examples are overused.

Sitfab,
I think you put that about as best as it could have been put. As far as routines being overused though, I have noticed that it depends on the area. There are some areas that are either overly filled with AFC's or so abundant of females that I see some of his routines still work. I think you are totally right though in the sense that it should only be part of your game. They will even admit that they are only for beginners and that you should adventually come to a point where you begin to develope your own.

Spirit, if you feel comfortable enough you should start field testing new routines and ideas. Ones I have tried this week were "What do you think changes more in bars from different areas, drinks or music?"
We had a whole discussion the other day in a thread about men dancing. So I decided to use that in the field. I asked them "Would you rather dance with a male who knew what he was doing, or didn't?"
Adventually you realize it's not the exact question you use, but how you deliver it. Sticking to the M3 model, and following simple guidlines like body language, applying kino, dhv and so on is what actually gets you a close. You don't close because "the facebook stalker" opener is so ingenious.
Again, this is my opinion so take it with a grain of salt
Pitch

Thanks Pitch and SitFab. Pitch, I do agree with you when you say it's probably the area because I used the "girl fight" Opener at two clubs where I live and the sets were completely into it. I wasn't good enough to get the target but that's another story. Anyways, I don't think my city (St. Petersburg, FLA) is AFC'd out. But I'm pretty sure it's bigger brother (Tampa) is.

I don't think the principles behind the mystery method or PUA, in general, will ever be outdated because they're based on social laws; even if certain routines become stale and over-used, there is plenty of room to utilize creativity and conjure up your own routines based on the same principles.

I used to spend a lot of time chatting in psychology-related forums and the females generally regarded PUA with disgust and affirmations that it would never work on them. But it became apparent through further discourse that these same women ARE actually susceptible to PUA, they just don't like the idea of being manipulated. One of them posted a picture of herself and all of the AFC guys, including myself, showered her with compliments, except one guy. Guess who she responded to positively, trying to win his approval? You guessed it! She swallowed his NEG, hook, line and sinker, like it was an aphrodisiac. And he may not have even been a PUA or trying to attract her. He might have simply been an asshole.

I look at it like gravity. Women can bitch and complain about the seduction community being misogynistic, sleezy, etc... But you wouldn't blame Isaac Newton for tripping and falling on your ass. He didn't create gravity; he simply identified it for what it is. So if women find themselves falling for negs and routines, they really don't have anyone to blame but themselves.
