need some advice! newbie here

a little background, was in a 5 year relationship, just ended. so now im rusty and i live in nyc. so i met this girl at my bartending class, and shes cool and fun and i didnt need to drink to have a convo. she doesnt act like a 5 year old at all times.

so day of graduation, we go out to a bar by the school and shes there and we talk and she gives me her fb. i get her number on fb because were both supposed to go to this intern thing the next monday. so u kno i flirt alil on fb when she was giving me her number. and i flirted alil monday with her before the internship(bartendin g) thru texting. at first she wasnt gonna go. but after a lil texting she decided she was gonna come out, basically only because i was gonna be there. so at the bar we talk a lil bit, (she came with a guy, her best friend or some sh*t) so i wasnt trying to hard because i thought that was her man. so im outside having a cig and i sent her a text like, is that your man? and shes like no why. thats when i was like oh cuz im kinda feelin u. she was like your cute. i said back to her, ur beautiful. she goes i feel the same. so there was def some IOIs going on from her. i mean from the moment she saw me.

so now the internship is like 3 nights of the week, in different places. so the next day i text her and im like hey are u gonna be out tonite? and shes like nah blah blah blah. same thing happend the next day. however later that night on wed. me and a couple boys went bar hopping and i was out by where she lives. so i shoot her a text kinda late at night and she was up and we talked for a hot minute. and somewhere along those texts i was like well hey i figured since i was out this way id give it a shot. she wrote back with something like well next time your in place y itll be with me.

so friday night comes around and i text her. something like hey have drinks with me tonite. and she respondes like, i cant because im at a new job tonite and throws in a sad face. so im like, thats whats up, where at? and shes goes on to tell me the name and location. so im like well if im out that way maybe ill stop by. and shes like let me know text me later. so i send her text like, well i know you wanted to see me tonite and all, but im stuck at home. shes like well i was working any way. so i thought it would be a good idea to be like well thats why u need to let me know when ur free so we can get up. and she was like kk will do. convo ends
sat i hit her up trying to be cute and i have yet to get a text back.


like she gives me signs she wants me somedays, and somedays she acts like she doesnt. and im completely rusty on the dating game. what do i do, i think cuz shes mad hot and chill im trying to hard and its killing my game. so nutshell question would be how do i get her interested in me again? i was thinking bout using the aliens are coming line or something along those lines.
or should i just chalk it up as a l and move on?

just thought of something, me and a couple friends do a trivia night at place y on wednesdays, should i see if she wants to meet up. this way its in the future so she should be free and its close to her place. and its not as personal as a date date, because it would be a if you want to tag along.

It seems like your main problem is how often you text her. Agreed tshe's giving you ioi's and whatnot... but "absence makes the heart grow fonder"

I do like the trivia night thing but i wouldn't try to set it up too far in advance. Instead i would do something like
"oooh last night at trivia night the clue was this (insert something she likes) and my buddy John could NOT get it across blah blah blah"
and then gauge her interest based on how she reacts to that. and say how "you should definitely come sometime!" but keep it vague like that until it's closer to the night actually happening and then call her that day or something.
