The Car

Hey guys,

This is just a miniguide I created on "car game." Eventually, you'll be picking up girls for dates in your own car. Here are some things I learned -

#1: Background noise is a must. Firstly, you do not want your music to be too loud. It has to be low. High enough to notice well enough, but low enough to have a conversation. When I pick up a date, I set my Ipod to an upbeat playlist. Some of the artists on my playlist are Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, classic rock (Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Boston, Kansas, Def Leppard, J Geils). When we're on the way home, I go with something somewhat softer. Angels and Airwaves, more Depeche Mode, Ashes Divide, Mumford & Sons, 80's music like Simple Minds. This just sets the mood. You want to avoid anything emo, gangsta rap, heavy metal (unless you know she likes gangsta rap or heavy metal), sad, AFC, or obnoxious.

#2: Use air fresheners. I like the oil ones you attach to your AC/Heater. I use Fabreeze on the seats as well.

#3: Your car should be impeccably clean. No trash, put all your crap in the trunk, there shouldn't be empty coffee cups in the cup holders, clean the dash, make sure your floor is reasonably vacuumed, etc.

#4: Make sure you cleanse the car of jewelry, lip gloss, and other stuff girls are want to leave all over your car. There's nothing more awkward than a girl finding a tanning salon card for another woman on your backseat floor.

#5: Make good conversation - You want to keep the conversation flowing, silence is awkward.

If you guys have anything else to add to this list, please do so.

-Open her door for her. It's amazing how many women tell me I am the first to ever do this for them. There are a very few who will insist they are independent and don't want you getting their door for them. Still do it. If they bring it three times, they mean it and you should acquiesce.

-Drive safely and within the laws. It shows you are concerned about keeping her safe and shows confidence in spending more time with her. Save the Mario Andretti driving for your buddies and the track; or, at least, until you get to know her better.

-Know where you are going. Do a few test runs in case your planned route is obstructed or something else comes up. A man with a backup plan is dependable, cool, and calm when things don't go as initially intended.

-Bring some money for the valet (if applicable). Don't look cheap telling the valet you'll hit them back when you pick the car up at the end of the night.

-If the trip is long, I'll bring a new, unopened bottle of water for each of us.

-Make sure tire pressures are right and your vehicle is in proper running condition. first date vehicle breakdowns are embarrasing and a hassle.
Along with this, Rain-X the windshield and make sure teh wipers work well on both sides.

-Don't brag about your car no matter how nice. A good response is, "thank you, I like it" or "thank you, it gets me around. Don't brag about accessories or performance mods you've put on it. If she cares, she'll let you know. You're not out to look at your car.

A comment on the air fresheners: go very easy on them in a neutral odor. She will be wearing a bunch of layered, smelly stuff. You will probably be wearing some smelly stuff. It will be olfactory overload if there are three strong smelling odors that clash.

@Nik - Great stuff there. I agree with the air freshener comment. I like to use "Fresh scent" or something along those lines.

@InTheMaking - Luckily I actually found the card before anyone saw it. The weird part is, it was for a girl named Tonya, and I never met a Tonya in my whole life.
