Default from nada to girlfriend approach

so a year ago, I met this girl and i only met her because my buddy liked her and needed me to wingman him. During that outting, i questioned her and negged her out and gamed her but to help my buddy out. She seemed to have thought of me as intelligent, and cool dude. A few months past, my buddy moved on to date some other girl, but i seldomly kept in touch with this girl.

Last week, I attended her birthday party at a bar, and her friends seemed to like me and I was just acting cool, didn't really game anyone in the group. The girl dragged me to dance with her and randoms. I have had her number for an entire year, but I never texted her. and I have her on facebook...

how can I ask her out on a date? how do I initiate a text conversation, considering I never texted her in my life.

need help to change from acquaintances to something more... thanks!
