Just got back from the local Home Depot. The cashier was an HB9. While I was waiting in line, I tried not to look at her directly. Out of the corner of my eye I saw her look at me a few times, so I looked at her until she made eye contact w/me - which she did.
When it was my turn for her to serve me, I knew I had to work fast.
The convo went like this:
Her: How are you today, welcome to Home Depot.
Me: I haven't seen you before. You're new here.
Her: I've been here almost two months. You can tell cus my apron is so clean and neat.
Me: They should give you a raise.
Me: Cus you make that apron look good. I bet that even if that's all you had on you'd still make it look good.
Her: Blushes & Giggles
Me: Reached out with my hand and said, "My name's Ernie. Glad to meet you."
Her: Shook my hand & said, "Me too, thanks."
While paying on the debit machine I said, "Will you do me one big favor?"
Me: Write your email, or ph #, on the receipt.
And she did!
Now trip on this. She's around 20, maybe 21 and I'm almost three times her age.
