Default What is the point of FRs?

Just wondering what the point of FRs is? I have three ideas: boast about your successes, get feedback on challenges / sticking points and offer insights to others. It seems like FRs would be way more concise if we kept in mind the reason that we were writing them. Please reply back if I'm understanding this right. Sometimes I send FRs to my close friends, but I rarely point them.

Mine are teaching tools. I write them as a way of sharing different stylistic preferences. If you read something you like, go ahead and take it. That's the point.

While it does feel good to show brag a little about your accomplishments, the real point of field reports is to demonstrate your technique so it can either be corrected if it's not working right or emulated as an example of good game. That's the real point.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “WOW...What a Ride!”

I guess with the boasting it's sometimes nice to let my friends know about my progress in this journey and how their advice is helping me. However, it seems distasteful how some guys do it without providing specifics about what they are doing to achieve results. I definitely have some room to improve my overall technique, so I look forward to getting you guys feedback.

I try to put as much detail as possible, try to put you in the scene so you can see what does and doesn't work

I boast with the successes and acknowledge my failures. Part of it for me is just keeping committed to game, If I post occasionally it's a way to stay accountable to the community on my own progress

In addition the detail should show how things were pulled off

I agree, some people posting statistics really doesn't help, but it may be their public acknowledgement that they have to improve, or about what's been working
Never need praise, sympathy, or approval

I think its stone cold proof of reality and truth, that is if the author isnt bending the truth. You know if you never were to hear/see about flirting/teasing/having fun with girls your own age you probably would assume everyone is gay and it never happens because you dont hear anyone talk about or present positive experiences. And that any type of positive success can only be seen in a fictional movie.

I talk to some guys and they have this "Oh it cant be done" attitude...and overall do some goofy ass sh1t in front of the opposite sex. Heard alot of weird stuff and weird theories and I dont agree with any of it. I try and share some experiences and sometimes it opens light on the situation to explain the hows and whys. You learn from experience, as well you can learn from other peoples experience if it is in the right scope.

Then sometimes I dont share my experiences cause some guys take it as bragging then they get jealous, then they can block you if your around them and they are within your social circle to affect you.

I totally agree. How do you find a balance? I'm here trying to help people, but I get tired of the politics and competitive machismo. I'm a student learning as I go just like everyone else on here.
