    Default Field report by Lost

Below is my field report for week 1:

I'm just starting out. I read a little bit material (the game and the venusian arts handbook) and am committing myself to getting out there and opening some sets. I still need to map exactly what my goals are, right now I'm just looking to open sets and improve my skills. I got a lot of work ahead of me, but over all week 1 was a good start.

I tried some day game but failed miserably. Day game is a lot of harder than I thought. I was walking around the mall alone and got Approach Anxiety so I didn't open any sets. Happened to me three times. I either need to grow some balls during day game, or bring a wing man out.

I did go out Friday and Saturday night and had a little success.

Friday: I went out with my AFC roommate I opened up two 8-8.5s which went really well. My success with them was limited by two factors, they had bar stools, and I was just lingering around them and I milked a conversation for all it was worth.
I later went to another bar and opened two more sets, one went horrible, I studdered and sounded like an idiot while opening and they ran away. I solo girl later walked by and talked to her, then I told her I had to go and she gave me her number. Although I sent her a text saturday and didn't get a response.

Saturday: I met up with two guys, one who had read a lot material but didn't have a lot of field experience, and the other was the opposite, didn't read a lot of material but his field experience was plentiful. I walked in and opened up the first set I saw, it was a two set, it went great, I through out some false time constraints and I had them hooked. However the wingman came over and started talking to one, so I talked the other one. I didn't throw out any negs and gave her an IOI to quickly, think she got bored and walked away. I opened up a couple of other sets, gave my number to one but, although I don't think she'll text or call me. But she took my number cause of my improvement after the first set, I was sure to tease her a little bit (she looked young).

Over I wouldn't say I have any trophies to take with me but this weekend I opened up about 10 sets and learned a good a mount about what I need to improve one.

    Improvements:
-Slow down my talking, I talk to fast.
-Let the girls talk a little bit, I talk to much and don't pause
-Use negs, I didn't use any

    Positives:
-During my openers, I caught there attention and initial attraction was sparked

Went back in the field tonight, it was a much better night. I opened a lot of sets and can't figure out if it was a failure or a success. The first set I opened up went great but the girls eventually left after 20 minutes because they wanted to get a drink. Any one have a good come back to that?

I let them on their way, I then found them and asked the one for her number and she gave it up, I ran into her later and kissed her so I'd say things went well.

As far as my other approaches go, I find it hard to hook girls in the club. A lot of my approaches went sour when I approached two sets and had one girl hooked but the other would pull the girl I was talking to away.

I also had a lot of trouble opening sets with guys in it. I opened up one, and tried talking to the guy first about football, then turned to the girls and they said everything I was saying sounded scripted.

Over all it seemed as though it got harder to talk to girls as the night went on. I think it was because I didn't show social value by being seen talking to other people. I would move to different floors of the bar and start opening new sets.

Well I'm a beginner myself and i can tell you that going with a wing is always better than going alone,i at first read LOTS of material then tried to approach people, and had major aa,then grabbed a friend, started opening sets like a champ,i mean, sometimes i didn't even go with a friend with an intention to approach,we were just waiting for our bus and 2 girls were there too,i opened them with something really random i don't remember, got them laughing a lot,my friend joined in,we had fun but we weren't really interested in them so we just left xD

I don't think that talking fast is a disadvantage, unless you sound nervous, look at Robert Dawney Jr,he's talking really fast(especially in Iron Man),but it's cocky and it's really funny.
Or take Neil Strauss/Style,he's talking really fast too,yet he's one of the best PUA's there is/was.

Yes,you should let them talk. And frankly you don't always have to neg, unless you feel like you have to,when i have to neg i usually have an association with a particular neg in my brain. For example if she thinks I'm hooked and starts touching me way too much,i would go with your common "It costs 50$ every time you touch me by the way".

Another mistake i notice is that when your wing joins in,you both start isolating your targets telegraphing too much interest before you moved to comfort, you should all communicate to build enough attraction before you Isolate your targets.

Thanks for feedback man. On day two of going out, I fixed my speech and starting talking slower and I had much better success.

After two days of going out, I looked back at my successes and failures and noticed one major difference. The successes came from opening groups and talking to the whole group and the failures were when Isolation occurred to quickly or my wingman came in to quick and isolated the individuals right away.

Point of improvement: Open the entire set and try to talk to every one within it.

    A: great work

B: don't worry about Isolation so much, it's overrated. Go in to be social, have fun with the whole group. I get numbers all the time right in front of a girls friends, never is an issue.

Isolation is a more formal game technique to build rapport, I know wingmen who do use it, I don't and I have great success anyway. Like you I also prefer more time before a wing comes in, like a good 10 minutes, even then I want them to just be open, fun, and social

And don't worry about them flaking, 75% of them will, can bring that down to half but only if you're really selective, even then it's tough

Anyway, keep calibrating man you're doing great
Never need praise, sympathy, or approval

Good report, Lost - You're definitely not lost because you're getting out there and that's the first step to it. Next time, try setting a small goal for yourself, a SMART goal (you can google it or look it up in any financial class). You can start small (open 3 sets and eject whenever you feel like it, unless they show some interest and start asking you question then keep the conversation going and eject before it runs dry) and the more you do it the more you will get comfortable opening. Then you can move on to story telling and so on and so forth until you feel comfortable closing.
Success or fail; everything you try can be chalked up as a learning experience~

I was out in the field again and over all it did not go that great. I was able to open a lot of sets and felt very little Approach Anxiety. The sets were hooked but I couldn't spark any attraction. I think it was because I did not neg at all. I was careful with the negging because I often neg and it hits an insult that seems to spark a huge negative emotion. I also tried to improve on an earlier point and talk to the whole group but when I did that I would only get one person in the set engaged in the conversation.

I also tried field testing this opener "Is it possible for two friends of the opposite sex to go through some kind of break up". It did NOT work. They always had a blank stare and asked what I was talking about.

I also noticed that opinion openers only work when the night is young. The later the night goes the less success I had with any opinion opener.

The on going trend I've noticed is that sober girls are easier to talk to and make progress with. I think I need to start up my day game again.

Positives: Sets were hooked and easily opened. Keep on forcing myself out and working on my game.

Point of improvements: Work on transitions and negging. Need more work on A2. I think I went back to talking to fast and did not pause enough in my talking points.

Went back into the field Saturday night and it was not a success at all. We weren't able to get into the venue until 12 when the venue closes at 2. I was able to open a lot of groups but when it came to transitioning moving the conversation I feel flat. I am still having trouble throwing out negs to the target to keep them engaged. I am noticed that I often only engage one person in the set and its a matter of time until the group pulls them away.

I am however noticing an improvement in my ability to talk to people when I am outside the club. I am no longer at a loss of words when talking to people and feel very comfortable initiating conversation with people I've never met before. Since solo day game is the easiest to arrange since it is entirely on my schedule, I am going to give it another shot and check out the mall after work on Wednesday.

Points of improvement: Work on transitioning and pausing in my speech when doing so. I also need to position myself in a better situation when talking. I often find myself standing a walkway. I am going to start putting myself up against the bar or leaning against a wall.

How about you confidently barge your way into the middle of the group, giving you some initial Kino, appearing confident, a great springboard into something which to involve all members of the group with, destroying any defensive group formation they might have. I don't mean shoulder barge them out of the way, but impose your presence, make your arrival clear.
