Just to give a bit of context, I've recently broken up with my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years and have been wanting to get out and start meeting people like I've always dreamed of doing but never had the guts too. This took place about 2 weeks after the breakup and before I even knew what a PUA was!
So it's a gorgeous sunny Saturday afternoon, which lets face it in Vancouver is a rarity, and I decide to host a BBQ at my place. Not having anything but some bbq sauce in the fridge I decide to wander over to the local grocery store.
When I get to the deli/warm foods counter and look up to place my order I see a 5' 4" doe-eyed cutey in front of me smiling (what I would now consider an HB7.5). Instantly I smile back and open:
Me: "Man it must suck to be stuck in here when it's so gorgeous out", I point to the window
Her: "Yeah it's so warm out but its an oven in here" she responds as she points at all the industrial ovens in the back. "I hope you're at least going to enjoy it"
Me: "As a mater of fact I'm picking up BBQ supplies right now. Going to have some friends over and finally chill out!"
Her: "Omg I love BBQ, you'll have to bring me some left overs tomorrow!"
Me: "Oh you know it."
As I finish this quick exchange I ask for what I needed I smile and she beams back, then low and behold, I turned and walked away. As I'm getting out to my car I start kicking myself realizing that she was really throwing out some IOIs. I'm thinking "why the hell didn't I ask her when she finished work and invite her over?" Oh well, I missed it, I half contemplated going back in but I just gave up and went home.
The next morning I get up around noon and remember the convo I'd had the day before. Walking into the kitchen I get a huge light bulb moment...I have no more leftovers! We ate everything. Why was this great news? You'll see.
I head back to the grocery store, super confident. I had a plan! I walk in and straight up to the counter and looking around for her. It's now super busy and there are 3 guys and 4 girls behind the counter all staring at me and low and behold, the girl from the day before, the only one with her back to me. My nerves start to creep in, Everyone's staring at me, but I quickly squash them and approach the counter.
Me: "Excuse me?" The words almost barely escape my lips and I have a little squeak at the first bit of excuse
Me: "Hey how's it going?"
*She turns around somewhat quizzically as she looks at me*
Me: You remember me right?
Her: Smiling now, "Yeah, you had that BBQ." still smiling
Me: "Yeah that's right. Anyway I've got some bad news..."
Me: "Yeah, we didn't have any left overs", I start to fake a sad face. "So instead I figured I take you out for dinner instead. If you're free that is."
Her: "She now lights up more than I've seen any girl do in a looong time. Smile from ear to ear with her cheeks starting to blush. "I'd like that" she responds.
I pull out my phone and have her enter her number for me and set the date for later in the week. We ended up going out twice and I k-closed on the second date but things have gone kind of stale since with her. That's ok though because in searching for texting answers (I think that's really where I lost her) I happened upon this site and the whole world of pickup artistry. I haven't stopped reading since and can only imagine how things will go if I apply all the things I'm learning now to improve my game.
Thanks for helping me get back up on the horse! Pleasefeel free to comment, I would love to hear your feedback. Cheers!
