I love Halloween. I think we all do; great conversations get started by their costumes: situation openers everywhere! Tonight was my second night out, after a little more then rocky start, and it was leagues better. I Listened to something about Mirror Exposure Effect, Luke Krogh talked about it when I was first introduced to the game. It's pretty much running thirty second sets on everyone: males, females, bouncers, and bartenders. Just introducing yourself as you make your way around the bar. I decided to give that a try, I threw on a form fitting shirt and my vest (I seem to get a lot of compliments on it, plus it makes you look a little more formal and universal). Of course, after I took a sharpie to my nails and threw on some wrist bands. (Still haven't gotten this whole peacock thing down, any advice?) On the way up there, I was listening to Airbornes "Back in the Game," (which is a perfect fucking song for any of us to listen to before we go out), to get my momentum going. When I went to Mill Ave here in Tempe, a spot magically open up in a prime ass parking spot. The PUA Gods shined on me. I headed to this place called Ringo Star. They've always had a good venue and the Hired Guns are banging. I've made it them my goal. As soon as I walk in, exchange some words with the bouncer, got his name, shook his hand and walked in like I fucking owned the place. Bouncing from one group to another, complementing and negging some of the good and bad costumes. I also made it a point to stop buy each vip station and introduce myself to some of the people there. I was like a goddamn presidential candidate. I could hear some of the girls I met and overheard a few people ask "who was that guy?" Money. As long as you opened, you can come back any time and reopen with "sorry, what was your name again?" or "yeah, the goofy poison ivy girl" etc. etc. Plus it makes your value skyrocket when people see you go from one set to another and acting like you know everyone. And if you run into someone, you already built that rapport, so you bro hug and then turn to some girls and continue one. I made my way around the bar and it worked like a dream. The only bad part is that I kept circling and didn't stop and Isolate any targets or try to run and longer sets on them. Oops. I did however meet the Arizona Cardinals Outside Linebacker Alex Okafor. He is a pretty nice guy, actually he's kinda shy. The douche bag he was with was all over him in a very homoerotic way, while some square in a suit watched. I thought he'd rip that spandex suit he climbed into; he must have had him on his fantasy team. That was pretty fucking epic. I was on top of the mountain. Right after that some pretty brunette I talked to earlier open up to me (I know right?) and pushed me against the bar and started grinding one me. But fuck me, I haven't danced in so damn long, I was rustier then a naval ship. But I kept up, let her lead, but only slightly. Put my hand on her hip and that was a great way to tell where she is going so my hips could fallow.
Moral of the story; be a person, command ownership, shake hands, say hi, and use the Mirror Exposure routine. The only thing is that it works better on a busy night where you can take a step and hope from one set to another.
What ways could I settle in and really start a set? I opened great, but I stupidly didnt take it anywhere, suggestions?
