i cant give you so much as advice at the moment, but i can give you examples you can try.

Direct: "Hi Im sorry but im so lost, would you know where ___ is?" then tangent the conversation.

Indirect: same thing but talk to his/her friends. Play with the targets head without interacting too much with her

To add to Pierrot's post, above, direct is harder (or just different) because you have to instill the idea that she needs to impress you 'directly', meaning it's not the attention you are paying to her friends that is 'indirectly' making her feel that she needs to impress you, but what you say to her. And you also have to establish your safety directly as you, again, cannot rely on her subconcious thinking you are safe, or desired, because her friends find you so. And all this while making sure you don't overdo it to the point that her self-of-being finds you too abnormal to please.

I personally find the indirect style much easier, where, once you start focusing on your target, your target is already yours.

P.s. I'm new at this so take my opinion for what it's worth: a newbie's opinion. Tonight, for example, I went direct with the group leader, and I could see her friends' jelousy and my heightened status in thier eyes, most of these friends were not even there when i started btw, plastered on their face, while my direct target targeting ultimately got me... well... sh1t (other than my friends telling me "they liked you"). I also failed to make use of any games or puzzles to get her fully engaged.

Tip: Told her I guessed her age by her ear's wrinkles (or lack of, and I wasn't lying at the moment) which gave me the opportunity to run my fingers on her neck in seconds
