Introducing people to other people is a good start. Just being friendly, the fun guy will increase your social circle as people gravitate toward you. Have similar interest as people in it.

It all depends on your region really. Do you live in a city, suburban area, or a rule area?

I'm in a small European country where you can go anywhere by bus within an hour and a half. Population is almost half a million.

Hmm, I've never been to Europe but maybe just open every set that is a familiar face or just seems to be a local.

Call me lucky, but this helped me last week when I went to an organized event for the first time. My first open was pretty spontaneous where I stole a chair from a woman standing next to it. She was talking to a guy so I shift the chair to the side, sat in it, and started talking to a woman at the table. The women were shocked and the lady I stole the chair from freaked out!

Anywho, the woman sitting at the table ended up being one of the event organizers. The table I was sitting at was actually the event organizers' home table where they were selling tickets to a future event. Safe to say that I started talking to these two women and the people at the event started coming up to the table asking ME to sell them tickets ~ I played along of course haha!

But moral of the story, open sets that attract you. If you have the opportunity to attend an organized event, do so, because the people there are there to have fun and socialize!
Success or fail; everything you try can be chalked up as a learning experience~
