Default I want thoughts on training newbies

So I've been working on a Minneapolis pickup lair here, started on meetup. Actually have had pretty good interest, and later found an existing but less active group we have somewhat blended with. We had an initial big meetup with about 25 of us, talked about where we were going, etc.

Meanwhile we've been doing pretty frequent meetups gaming, some people go out alot more during the week so there's usually 2-3 meetups a week and a couple good regulars go out quite a bit.

I am going to make a bigger new meetup in 2-3 weeks for everyone where we all meet beforehand and train on a few topics first. Most people in the group have read one or two texts, but outside of the regulars, they are still pretty rough.

So my question for experts - how would you go about this?
And my question for newbies - what would you want to see out of a first practice session?

We will meet for 2 hours to get everyone prepped, then split up in the field for the rest of the night. My main question is on the training part

    My thoughts to focus on

    - The basics of opening
and include some practice openers and have everyone try these on each other

    - Talk abou the basics of body language and what to focus on
I will create a small pocket hand out to help people with the basics, hands by your side, stand up straight, smile, etc

    - Talk more about wingman dynamics
Have people practice this with dummy sets, walking up to a set your wingman has engaged and building appropriate enthusiasm

    - How to recognize IOI's and what to do with them
again I will include basic IOIs on the pocket handout

    - Finally, the cube game. Everyone will have to have a dry run through this, just so they have something useful in their inventory

OK, so this is the first basic training session. I want to make this as efficient as possible, and I understand that means keeping it to the basics, so for beginners, where would you start?

Also and possibly more importantly, what are some good excercises we can do within the group in our timeframe?

I just hosted Game Day 2 on Saturday (we have small events all the time too, these are for bigger ones). I will say I have now formed a legitimate lair here in Minneapolis :-)

If I can find out when this is a couple weeks before it happens ill make sure to take it off work. Ill try to do anything during the day, but like you said the nights you guys go out I have to go t Barfly or first ave instead since I'm not twenty one. But yeah any training I can get ill take, Esp the chance to meet other puas. As far as topics go, really what I've been focusing on right now is kino escalations and using compliance tests more often.

@RedBaron... good to hear... now that u got a lair, dont go all supervillian on us! "I am The Red Baron! All women worship me, and soon so will the entire world! Mwuhahaha!"

I also wanted to know how your prepping them went. Were u satisfied with their results? Did the flash cards help? What would u change next time?

Honestly I was extremely satisfied, and game day 2 we improved upon

Another shopping session, this time 3 hours for prep, 7-10, but we still went over to 10:30 and eventually just had to say ok, field time

It was great tho, game day 2 agenda was

1.5 hr, talk and answer qs on frame control, body language, kino, transitioning, number closing, an example of the cube game, and a few misc things
8:30 (became about 9) then we played improv games to loosen everyone up, this was perfect
Then 20 minut talk on approaching, then half an hour of practice approaches
(style went out and grabbed 2 strangers who played along and let us run practices to get their feedback)
Then went in to the field to use it

It was hard for me cuz even at 10:30 I had 3-4 people lining up to ask me more questions they had about stuff I covered but wasn't able to get to

I feel like we need a whole legitimate day, like noon to 2 AM to cover everything we need

But it was awesome, I pulled in a ton of examples from the past few weeks to discuss and explain frame control and number closing and how to prevent flakes, etc

Have seen big improvements from the guys in their approaches already, but until we have them consistently approaching and closing we are gonna focus on a mix of inner game and more approaching every time

Definitely starting to get the hang of this and having so much fun

Just makes me happy that I can share my wisdom with everyone else out there and help them along

Even mid set with some girls I used it as an opportunity to explain what we do and they all thought it was so cool and people really need help understanding how to talk to girls appropriately

On our training days I bring wings directly up with me on approaches and approach as a pair to show them how it's done

Otherwise I just cover the winging rules, explain how and when I want them to approach, and after you leave the set explain what could have gone better

Just make sure they know the basics, the wing is your best friend, whoever opens gets to chose their target, and the wing just acts in a support role to help the main guy out
