    It varies for everyone.

The big key is tying your opener into your conversation. Is your opener situational or canned? Is your conversation mostly situational or canned? These are things you want to decide BEFORE your approach.

For me, mostly I use situational openers with canned conversation. I open with something situational, then stack to one of my DHV/interest-building routines that relates to why I am here in this situation (the situation that I referenced in my opener). In each routine I include enough information to stack to another routine.

    Example:

    (At a college food court):

Me: "Hey, are you new here?"
    Her: "Yes/ no"
Me: "Oh, true. I'm new here, can I join you?"
Her: "Yes" (they always say yes)
Me: "I'm still getting used to this cardboard that they pass off as pizza (situational) but I really enjoy the styraphome they pass off as salad. Where are you from?"
    Her: "City, State"
Me: "Oh (I neg her city if I can think of one) I'm from a little place you've probably never heard of (I say something for which my city, state or country is famous for - gambling in Las Vegas or Beaches in FL or being the USA, etc, be sarcastic) but not a lot of people know about that."
    Her: "Yeah totally"
Me: "But really the reason I came here (I tell a story referencing a bit of my education history, family and career goals so that I have somewhere to stack to or she has something to ask about)

...and that's how a conversation is born.

What are some examples of your openers and routines? Don't need the full routine, just a title, like "trip to Hawaii routine" or "why girls can't throw routine" or "black eyeliner routine" or "text message routine" etc, you get the idea.

List a couple here and we can show you some transitionability between them.

To transition make an assumption about her based on her looks and/or way she's dressed then go to a dhv story u need to work on u're conversational skills. read this http://www.puaforums.com/how-pick-up...technique.html

My game is actually indirect and I use the spell opener and try to go to a DHV story but I don't know how to transition into it without it being weird

You might be focusing too much on the opener. I don't mean in your analysis, I mean literally in-field, you might be drawing too much focus in on the topic you use to open which then makes it awkward to stack their focus to something else.

Try performing your opener as if it's something that just popped into your head, then mention other things as they pop into your head - the last time you talked about this subject with your friend, your FTC, suddenly commenting on their clothing.

Here's an example from the best friends test (though I've actually never used the besties test)

    Like:

PUA: "Hey are you guys best friends?"
    HBs: "What?"
PUA: "Listen, I've gotta get going but I'm curious - see, a friend of mine actually - he's taking a Psychology test all about body language and what not - I think it's bu11sh1t - but he says you can tell if two girls are best friends based on their body language, like, do you two use the same shampoo?"
    HB: [whatever their response]
PUA: [finish best friend test] ...and that's how you can tell - like I say, I'm not sure how scientific it is, but my friend is kinda out there. He actually tried this thing on two guys at a party - almost got his a$$ kicked. I'm not a big partier though, probably because I'm from a small town where everyone knows each other - I'm Autismus btw, what's your name?"
    HB: [name]
PUA: "I actually went to high school with a [name]... well several actually it's a pretty common name. But listen, before I go, I'm terrible with names, like I spent three weeks calling my boss Jim when his name was actually Jarred, tell me three interesting things about yourself so I can remember you better..."

From here you've now referenced (and can return to) your home town, their home town, your boss, your job, your friend, a party you were at, why you don't party too much, the exceptions to you not partying... Imagine if for each of these ^ threads you have just 30 seconds of prepared DHV statement, then add on whatever their responses and self-disclosure might be and you're having a conversation of at least 5 minutes = probable #-close
