    Default Pickup tips for NYC?

Hey guys, I'm 23. I've recently moved to NYC and have been trying approaches to girls up here (manhattan specifically). I'm late to the game, and I'm still learning. I'm what you'd call a "late bloomer". I'm a fan of Simple Pickup, so I've been using a variant of their direct openers. For example, I'll say "hey, do you like x movie?" Or "do you know where x restaurant is?"quickly following up with "just kidding I actually thought you were cute and wanted to say hi." The times I've tried this have usually been in the street, both at night and day (usually week days). So far only one girl responded positively (out of 5 or so) and she never replied to my text or call. The others either sai "no thanks" or "sorry" or laughed a bit and said they had to go back to work and zipped off.

So how does one go about pick up in NYC? I'm not big into bars/clubs but I'm starting to think that where I have to go. I've so far preferred public settings, but I haven't had much luck yet. I'm starting to wonder if the Simple Pickup method isn't the best approach in NYC at least in public where people have shields up, are in a hurry, etc. Cali seems much more chill/open. Some cases the girls immediately respond positively when the PUA has barely even done anything.

    Thoughts? Techniques? Locations?

My guess is that you probably aren't setting a strong enough frame. If you are going to go direct then don't open with an indirect line. If direct is your game just open with something like "hey, YOU look fantastic in those (shoes, that top, your hair, your style, etc...) and I had to come talk to you!" Then continue with witty banter. A good follow up is "so what are you off doing right now?" this is good cause if she isn't actually busy then you can be like, oh great cause I know what you are doing, you are going to get coffee (etc..) with me! If she is busy it gives you a chance to dig deeper into what she is busy with etc... The more I talk to girls in different situations the more I realize that the further you can get away from boring everyday talk the better. AS LONG AS ITS SOMETHING THEY ARE INTERESTED IN!!! If you can't find something they are interested in then ask. A good way to do this is ask " so what do you spend most of your time doing?" This leaves an open for her to talk about work, or whatever she is actually passionate about. Good luck!!
