Default Date arranged, agreed and all set and now she backs out?

Okay so I'd got chatting to this HB7 via PoF, got her number quickly and started texting... now I know I made some silly mistakes over phoning her which I made another thread about but since then things had been really going well.

Exchanged pictures (nothing rude, just head shots etc) talked on the phone and been texting a lot. I've been mindful of staggering response times, handled some shit tests she sent my way well I thought and we had the date arranged for this coming Sunday... I was to go to her place, bottle of wine, food, chatting etc and through a lot of suggestive text messaging from both of us I was pretty convinced I had a solid F close lined up.

Then today she throws that she'd want us to go to a bar for our first date, under normal circumstances cool, but as I said right from the beginning money is tight and with the travel to her city (about 35 - $70 USD approx) I can't really afford to go to a bar so I stuck to my guns and got the "maybe we don't have as much in common as I thought" response...

Stupidly I went into AFC mode and tried to back peddle by saying okay lets go the bar but I can't afford much which although she's said she'd be happy to pay at first now she's saying she's not so sure and it might have to wait till after Christmas. Very flaky all of a sudden...

How the hell can I salvage this, I was having great fun till this curve ball (at least to me) came out of nowhere?

Completely your fault here and a rookie mistake. Always go for a meet on neutral ground to begin with. My experience is that girls always back out if you try to get a date at their place or your place.

So how do I save it, if at all possible?

If she's still talking to you, there's still hope. Just try for after Christmas. But it's not looking great at this point.

Thanks Duke, but are there any specific things I can do so I'm not behaving like a total AFC again? Not just for this occasion but so as I don't fall victim to it again in the future?

First you need to forget this failed attempt and not look like it bothered you.
You need to start over after Christmas, give her some time to forget it. And this time don't do the mistakes you did and duke mentioned.

There is nothing more of a turn off to a woman than debating about date details. Just keep it simple boy.
