Default FB status and damage control

So for the past year I've been single and seeing multiple girls. Eventually most of the prospects dried up except for 2 girls - A local girl who I've gotten comfortable with, and a much hotter girl who lives several hours away who I've only seen a few times, but have banged and I'm still flirtatious with.

The local girl has been bugging me about changing my FB status for a couple months now, and finally today I decided to appease her....By changing my relationship status every 2 minutes to another relationship status (Widowed, divorced, civil union, etc.). When I finally set my status to "In a relationship", long-distance girl shows up and "likes" it within a minute. Now this is a girl who isn't on FB much, who I haven't spoken to in a few weeks, and who very rarely likes things I post. I'd like to think that this is her "liking" the fact that I'm pre-selected, but it could also be her saying something like "Good boy, now get lost."

I eventually felt really stupid for failing a shit-test and quietly changed my relationship status to the way it was before (Saying nothing and completely hidden). But I'm still thinking about what this could've done to my social proof with girls on my friends list, especially in regards to the long-distance girl. I'm going to lay low for a few days and see if everyone forgets this. But bottom line, do you think it hurts your value to have your relationship status displayed as a "life event" on social media? Or could you use it as a method of pre-selection to DHV? Or is it best to leave it saying nothing?

lol honestly bro I wouldn't worry to much about it, but why did you even change your relationship status that much? If anything just say one of your female friends hacked your fb and started messing wit sh!t. I think you might just be over thinking this. As far as her liking your status, who knows. Its only a like on fb don't read to much into it..

I started changing the status to the wrong thing as a joke. She was thinking my profile would say "In a relationship", but would check and see "Married" or "Divorced" instead.

And you're right, it would be easy to just brush the whole thing off. If someone commented on it I'd joke about it so it didn't look too serious. That way it's easier to make it seem like it was a joke or like someone stole my phone and fucked around with my settings.

Read that, or skip to this part: Relationship Status - I shouldn’t have to tell you guys this, but DON’T have a relationship status. That’s right, none at all. Not “single.” Not “it’s complicated.” Not “in a domestic partnership” with your best friend because you think it’s funny to be gay. You are a pickup artist. You don’t have a relationship status, so don’t show one.
Always leave her better than you found her.

Mines has been "open relationship" for the longest time. Its like a happy medium, and I think its a good DHV. Of course, like most people are advicing, having nothing at all should be fine as well.

I've heard of some PUA's doing "Open relationship" statuses and that got me wondering. Is it a good DHV because it shows you're pre-selected by hypothetically being attached to someone? I've heard that when some guys meet girls in public they'll pretend they're married or have a girlfriend and that usually makes them more desirable. How true is that?
