Default Gaming a friends ex GF?

Is this a complete no no? We aren't REALLY good friends, we were fraternity brothers. What is the standard procedure with this? They've been broken up for a while now and he is in a new relationship with a girl he is crazy about. I guess I struggle to see the problem with that personally. She's her own person. Why do people make a big deal over crap like this? Am I missing something?

Well if you have nothing to lose go for it.

People make rules to help protect themselves. If you think you cant move forward without his approval then talk to him or dont do it. But if you have his valued friendship at the absolute bottom in which you're ok with possibly losing him as a friend the go for it
Every moment counts, get out of your head and enjoy it.

Wait until you have something started with the girl then openly tell him in an honorable way. It's good to be transparent.

I have personally never been with a friends ex possibly simply because the opportunity never came up and possibly because Im not really into someone elses 'seconds'.

Where it gets tricky is when you and your friend are competing for the same girl. I usually avoid that completely!

That was the plan honestly. I wasn't going to try to keep it a secret, because that just looks crappy on my part.

I know all about the last part unfortunately. Never again.
