Default Number closing – Confident assumptive approach?

I number closed this HB8.5 at the supermarket (she was a cashier) yesterday. I was quite happy with myself as we only had about 2 minutes to talk, which usually in the past has meant there was no where near enough time to build up attraction. Just as I was about to leave, I said “you know, it would be good to continue this conversation, you should give me your number”. (This is becoming a tried and tested line for me lol!). She was taken aback and blushing slightly when I said that and didn’t say anything for a couple of seconds. As she didn’t say anything I then said “if you want” to which she said paused and said “yes”.

This leads me to 2 questions:

When faced with that pause (like I was) after asking for her number, I’m sure there was something better for me to say than simply “if you want”? Something cocky & funny possibly, such as “you don’t want this to be one of the regrets in your life by not taking the opportunity” with a smile on my face as I say it. What would you say?

When number closing or asking a girl out for a date, would you recommend using an assumptive confident/cocky funny approach as opposed to the “would you like to/can I have your number etc”?

Was this an immediate close or someone you had seen for a while? Congratulations either way. I'm just curious.

Thanks, yes it was an immediate close. Possibly my finest moment since beginning PUA lol!

Generally, such a short amount of time to number close doesn’t give one the opportunity to really build any rapport/attraction, and this has caused me to be rejected in the past. I suppose, though, if the girl likes you, she likes you. Therefore, on these rare occasions lol when a girl is into you from the start, such a short amount of time doesn’t prevent you from getting her number….

Exactly. From experience, indirect builds comfort. They smile but it's too much comfort. They're probably thinking, "Aww. This is a funny stranger.". Then you ask for the number and it's like, "Wha what?". lol

I'd love to hear your style. There's not enough post like this here.

Lol thanks. By using this approach rather than asking politely for their number, I feel more comfortable and it suits me better. If I did politely ask for a girl's number it would make me feel like I'm coming across as needy, and conveying someone who lacks the confidence to believe the girl would actually give him their number.

Also, if/when I get rejected, it doesn't feel like a flat out rejection because you haven't actually asked them for their number. This allows me to maintain grace and dignity during my interaction with her and isn't a very large blow to my confidence.

Don't get me wrong, I am no where any near a PUA but slowly but surely I'm getting better lol.
