Default Do Girls' moan mean IOI?

    Dear all,

I packed all my stuff up in my PhD office yesterday and ready for my new chapter in my life. A very sad day for me!

There is was a 7/10 ginger in my office I have been fancying for a long time (Damn right! if you look at all my old posts, I will fancy things as long as they can breathe). Since I realized that she was in a long-term relationship, I was sort of holding back myself and not getting too full-on every time when I flirt or chat with her. I won't say we are very good friends to each other, but still talk to each other in some social occasions.

I cut all the irrelevant scrap off and straight to my question now. When I was in my PhD office, wrapping up all boxes and the shit, she came in the room with a very friendly opener. she said, " everyone is leaving this room!" Yes, it's true, apart from me, a guy , lets call him whacky is leaving soon. At that time whacky wasn't in the room. Only me and another not important nerd. I gave her response by saying, "But you will meet more nice people once we have left!" It was a joke but she didn't get it. She ignored me and talked to the nerd. Great! I instantly killed the conversation. Then she started moaning about that no one noticed her new look and dress to the nerd. To be honest, I did but I chose not to say a word about it. here is my question:

if a girl is moaning about a guy not paying attention to her look, does it mean she is giving an IOI to her target?

It means she has little self esteem and needs reassurance from a schmuk to reiterate to her what she should already know. Good job on not complimenting her right off the bat. Especially after she flat out brought it up.
It could mean she is giving an IOI for her target, so he can compliment her. But it's a weak IOI if that. It's more for her own pleasure and please.

If you want to impress her, give her the compliment the next day. Be like, "I liked what you had on yesterday, it was nice." Leave it at that and don't probe further. It can be a tiny NEG as well. She will think what she has on today isn't as good as what she had on yesterday. But, that doesn't change the fact that she is an attention seeker.

A girl once asked me if she looked cute today. I said, "sure, do you want a cookie now?" I basically tell girls off the bat, I don't compliment unless it's meant and deserved. Otherwise, it loses it's meaning. If you ask for a compliment, then it ceases to be a compliment, right?

Hey Mr8Hyde6, thanks for your advice. There is a follow up. Hope you can give me more advice. I bumped into that ginger again this afternoon when I was in room doing final packing up. I learnt from my past mistakes. These days I say hi to everyone when I walk into any rooms. This helps me to show my High Value. Once I walked in the room, I said hi to her and she replied me by asking that if I would leave this room this week. I said yes but told her that I would be relocated in another room for a short term research project. Straight after I said it, I teased her by asking her playfully if she would miss me. She laughed and I laughed afterwards.

Do you think her laugh is an IOI?

Well, if she only laughed it might be just a polite way of trying not to respond to your comment. In instances when a girl makes a comment that I just don't want to comment back on, i'll reply with a giggle or laugh or even something like, "awe thanks."
You should of went with something like... "It's okay, I know you'll miss me. But don't worry, I'll be in another room nearby."
This shows confidence. What you do is not asking her if she will miss you, but telling her she will. Come across in a joking manner, but what you do is implement the idea in her head. So when she does remember the room you said, she will automatically think of you.
