I joined a dating site in March this year. Since then I've gone on dates with about 50+ girls from the site. While I have little trouble getting dates, the date itself has been the real problem...not knowing how to make them feel attraction, chemistry, etc. and most of those dates except about 8 girls were one date fails.
Usually if I can get them to respond to me, a date is a forgone conclusion. However this particular time I crashed and burned. I'd like to paste the convo and seek help on what I may have said wrong, or not said that I should have.
Keep in mind typically I have a "formula" where I ask the girl on a date by the 5th/6th message, spread out over several days to a week.
Me: Okay, I would really like to know exactly what that round thing is on your necklace in your third picture.
Her: Well, it is made out of an abalone shell... but it appears that it could have been altered to craft the design on the front. I am by no means an expert on that, though. LOL!
Me: Wait, what? Abalone shell? Hold on, I've seen a lot of abalone shells in my life (unfortunately my dad used them as ashtrays) and it looks nothing like them. However, I think they're lovely!
I'm Daniel. Nice to meet you Carisa. So another question: what were you for Pumpkin Night (if anything)?
Her: ahh, yeah, back is defintiely some type of abalone... for sure. But like I said, looks like the design on the front was somehow stamped, painted, etc. on there. just sayin. My costume was "taxi driver" while I toted some teens around. LOL.
Me: I was Mr. Clean. I dyed my facial hair white, wore a white t-shirt, white slacks, and carried a bottle of Mr. Clean around. Oh, and I had fake gold hoop earrings in too LOL. So country, huh...I used to hate country until I heard two awesome songs! I love those songs to death, but I still have graduated to liking all of country yet!
Her: to clarify, I prefer NEW country... LOL! I was raised on the twangy old stuff, refused to listen to any country for a very, very, long time, but have found I enjoy new country a lot. Similar to 80's rock to me I guess. What two songs... and are you purposely not giving me all the info when you write so I keep writing you back?? Mr. Clean...hmmmm. yes, I can see that. LOL!
Me: Well, the two songs are "Honey Won't You Open That Door," by Ricky Skaggs, and "All you ever do is bring me down," by the Mavericks. The first is from like '84 and the second from about '96 or so. They are older for sure but I love them because they are sooooo stereotypically country! And you are writing back because every time I hit Send, I just waved my hand and said, "you will write me back after this reply," like the Jedi Hand Wave. Am I good or what?
Her: LOL... you think so, huh? Maybe I am just actually a nice, polite person... I think you should try listening to Jason Aldean, the newest Kenny Chesney album, Zac Brown Band, Eli Young Band, Blake Shelton, and Jake Owen. That is a good slice of what is considered "new country."
Me: I'll tell you what. I will listen to two songs by each of them (because I am willing to a) broaden my musical horizons and b) take your advice on what's good country) and afterward, I will tell you what I thought/liked/disliked over a drink. Deal?
Her: No, I think I will pass on that. But thanks for the offer.
