Abs is all % body fat, 6 shows up btwn 8-10, 8 btwn 5-8 and a 10 pack btwn 3-5%. For most guys this is unrealistic, the trick is commitment to diet.
What most people dont understand is that weight loss is not as simple as a calorie deficit. If you are trying to maintain muscle then you are going to need to keep your calories between 2500-3000. Sounds counter intutive but if you spread this over the course of a day, it acts to keep your metabolism humming along.
Your metabolism is the key to shredding fat. If you want to be lean and big you need a high metabolsim. To do this, try combining full body exercises with circuit training (many good websites out there if you just google either one).
Also things such as green tea and spicy food actually have natural thermogenics in them which raise your core body temperature at a resting rate so as to burn more calories at a baseline.
Cardio is key but do not simply job, make sure to do interval training, short birsts of high intensity workouts to increase your resting metabolism. Doing this has shown to speed up your metabolism for up to 36 hours post workout.
The first step is to eliminate all sugar and enirched white flour from your diet. This includes white bread, pitas, buns and basically anything from a bakery that doesnt say Whole grain or Whole oat. You need to watch things that are battered as well, because the breadcrubs are undoubtedly enriched white flour. This is because sugar and bleached flour ( a simple carb that breaks down to sugar in your body) spike your Glycemic Index (GI). Evidence shows that when your GI spikes, your body triggers a fat storing mechanism which will work against your dreams of abs.
Second--The last time you should eat carbs is at lunch, this is because a complex carb such as a sweet potatoe or quinoa (its a wonder grain look it up) take up to 8 hours to digest, which means if you eat it within 8 hours of bed, then your metabolic rate will slow down and your body will store fat.
third-water: make sure you are getting enough water in your diet- like 4 liters of water a day (double it if you work at a labour intensive job or in a hot climate)
Fourth- Do not eat within 4 hours of bed aside from a small scoup of organic peanut butter or some almonds before bed. This will give your body some fat to burn during the night so as not to let your body think your starving and start storing calories.
Fifth- You will all get to the point Im at, where you have dieted hard for months, worked out until your sick of it and there is nothing more you can do and your still not seeing the abs you want. This i found out is mainly attributed to water retention. You first need to cut the sodium out of your diet, wear heavy clothes at the gym to promote sweating and use the sauna at your gym. If all of this fails, dont run out and buy a fat burner, they suck. Try a product called Animal Cuts, you should be able to get it on bodybuilding.com. It is a three week product that will burn that water off ur belly.
Hope this helps guys
