Okay guys I just signed up to this forum today, but nutrition and fitness is something I know well and I can help you guys make it simple without having to starve yourself at the gym. A little history on me so You are less likely to think I'm talking out my ass. I Played football for 12 years, baseball for 10, spent a couple years in the Canadian infantry and did some muay thai for a year. Oh and I can't forget rock-climbing. I have been a personal trainer and nutrition specialist for a while now. I've tried supplements and wonder pills galore and last December I found a way of eating and working out that resulted in me being in better shape then when I was in the military. So here it is....
Go get The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain. This book is based on the a caveman diet. I got on this diet where you can pretty much eat as much as you want (unless your metabolism is insanely slow) and I dropped 5% body fat in one month. For those of you that don't understand what that means, fat is what makes you look round and chubby. You lose the fat and the muscle is exposed making you cut. Anyone here want to be ripped? Thought so!
Now stick to the diet part of the post, if you are one of the unlucky ones who has a slow metabolism then get some coconut oil. Coconut is anti-fungal and also helps reset your metabolism. Either choke down a table spoon straight in the morning or make a smoothie and put it in there. It tastes good, but the texture straight sucks.
If you are the opposite (like me) and can eat all day and never gain any muscle then invest in a good massbuilder protein and have at least one shake a day and add a banana, and some hemp seed or chia, almond butter is good, frozen berries. Basically healthy foods that will add calories. I recommend Ultimate Nutrition IsoMass Extreme Gainer protein. These extra calories will help make sure your workouts aren't wasted and you don't atrophe in the morning (body eating you muscle to fuel itself).
Okay, workout. This is the simplest part but farking hard. Do these workouts with your wing so you can motivate each other. I'm going to give you a website to a community that is for a style of workout that the US military uses now. Look up crossfit (I haven't made enough posts to post a URL lol)crossfit is the website name though. They post a WOD (Workout of the Day) 3 out of 4 days and have free instructional videos. You can do most of these workouts anywhere. Some are only a few minutes long. All the WODs are adaptable to your level. These workouts are based on real movements that we make everyday so they will benefit you greatly.
Eating properly and exercising will make chemical changes in your brain and body. You will feel better and have more energy and look better. Who doesn't want that?
