Newb and conquering A.A.

Ok, after immersing myself from reading materials from the game to D. DeAngelo, I went to a shopping center today with the goal of just approaching. The first time i did this, which was a couple of days ago, i didnt had the nerve to approach anyone and ended up leaving without talking to anyone. Today was a bit different. For some reason, i had this idea to warm up and just start acting different characters to anyone in different stores at the mall. 1st one was a french man who spoke little english. I pretended i didnt speak very little english to see if anyone can help me. I went to a store specializing in women's clothing and just pretended i needed a gift for my sister. Conversation with a HB 7 went well and she was all smiles and complimented me with my accent (Who would have thought my 2 years of french in high school would serve any good! FYI, i dont know how to speak french that well, i just mumbled french words together to make up sentences) Told her that i didnt like her suggestions and will look at other stores. After this, everything was downhill. I tried it 5 times with great results, each with a different character (french man, husband looking for a dress for his wife, flamboyant gay guy,after borat's character and with the goal of just messing around.

So feeling good about myself, i decided to go home for the day. As i was walking towards the parking lot, this HB 7.5 passed me by. I instantly thought to my head, 3 second rule, its now or never and this is just practice to make me even more better. So i approached and here's the convo:

L0stCauzz: Hey, Im running really late for a meeting but i just wanted to thank you.
HB7.5: What? For What?
L0stCauzz: For making my day.
HB7.5: (smiles and looks down).
L0stCauzz: I paused for a little bit to see if she was gonna say something and she did.
Hb7.5: Whats your name?
L0stCauss: blah... ( i didnt ask her for her name in return)
HB7.5: Where you from? (she started asking me about myself which i thought was an IOI).
L0stCauzz: blah blah
HB7.5: You seemed shy and nice.
L0stCauzz: Ok, nice is kinda boring but i'll take it.
HB7.5: No, thats good. I like shy.
L0stCauzz: So what does a guy have to do to get to know you?
HB7.5: i dont know, usually talk to me...
L0stCauzz: But what about if they dont know where you are, how do they reach you?
HB7.5: (smiling) i can give them my phone number.
L0stCauzz: Alright, you dont have to be bossy. I'll let you give me your phone number.
HB7.5: (taking phone and inputing her phone number).
L0stCauzz: K, i have to go. I'll call you.
HB7.5: oh, by the way, my name is blahblah, bye.

i think i did ok on my first time above. I was a little nervous at first during the delivery but definitely felt she was qualifying herself for me and i became more comfortable ( i was thinking about my posture and body language and trying to pick up cues from her body language during the conversation). I could have took control more of the conversation and played more instead of just answering her questions straight up but for my first time in a while, i think it was good. Cant believe i number closed today. Just really happy about that since i had no expectations and all i wanted was just to talk to people! Will definitely be practicing more about just approaching w/no expectations.

Nice. Congrat first one is always fun!

BTW those warm up sets help tons. When you get a little better with some more pratice maybe try some bombing openers to warm up, lets you get rejection out of the way so you can find sucess better. Plus its just funny most of the time!

damn not bad at all. you played it prettyu smooth. but i agree with bill. get in there and open about 2 dozen more this week. and what will really help which i have seen is mabye taking some half ass set and triyng ot get rejected as hard as possible. it will help you think of just the interaction and less goal oriented. haha but overall not bad

Very good job man! But you need to keep one thing in mind. If you do this 20 or so more times this week, you are really going to need to get the girls names, or else you won't know who you are calling =)
