To tip......or not to tip?

Ive got a question about tipping. The other night a hot bartender told me I was a "no tipping mother farker and thats not nice". I just smiled and laughed then walked off. (I was just up there getting drinks and change, so its not like i got mad and stormed off)

Now just to clarify, I do frequent this bar often, and we do often joke around with each other. There will be times when she will hit me, but in a playful way, and the other night she said she was cold and she cupped her hands on top of mine to show me how "cold" they were. I also have her number so its not like we're total strangers, but I cant help but think she was being serious when she said that about not tipping.

So my question is, is it really that rude not to tip? I VERY rarely ever tip cause i believe it sets me apart and tells me if the waitress or bartender is really into me or if its just my money. Also, how do yall think my response was to her telling me that? Is there anything i could have or should have done or said differently?

If you are not tipping, they are not making any money for the services they provide you. Quit trying to stand out by being a cheap bastard. Just don't try to stand out by over-tipping.

If you want to stand out to a bartender or wait staff, don't let money be the way, either direction.

yeah bro tipping is essential. they wont look at you the same cause of the money. you have to make an impression somehow. but dont try to do it while its busy. try to talk to her before or after and make an impression. but sh1t since u already have the number shock her next time and tip her cause u dont need to Number Close, you just now need to peak her curiousity of you and try gaming her. just to shock her next time, give her a tip that somewhat makes up for it and then later that night try texting her and im sure she will respond cause u actually arent an immoral jerk. haha I TIP EVERYTIME. whether its subway, a club, a bar, or even just returning something to me like if i forgot my jacket and someone runs it out to me

Thanks yall, but just to clarify nik, I'm not just a "cheap" bastard, I'm an asshole in general. Thanks for the comments guys, ill keep that stuff in mind.

If your an asshole in general you might want to work on that. There us a big difference from being alpha and a "bad boy" and being an ass or a jerk.

Yea you need to tip. They live off tips not an hourly wage.

Everything I know about you comes from the brief bits you've posted in this thread. You are an idiot who people appease to thwart further contact with you. You are proud of being a cheap, ass hole. People most likely talk badly behind your back and are embarassed to be seen or associated with you because of your pretentious attitude.

If you're too cool to tip a bartender, especially one you want to get to know, you need to do a complete self-assessment, not just "keep that stuff in mind". Grow up. You're not a third as cool as you want to be perceived.

I can assure you, its very polite and grateful. Here's the deal, big dog. I dont have any problem taking criticism or advice from anybody. If i did, i wouldnt ask for it. ok well i have a prime example today. ok so im a big hold em player. i go sit down for around 7 hours tonight at a casino. cold for a little floating around what i bought in after getting down and gettting back up. but i made an impression because im the guy who tips dealers when they leave for being friendly and genuine and im the only person in the room tipping more as i make more. lets take an example. i pull a 40 pot. i tipped like 4 bucks. couple hands later i win just over 200. i tip her 25. cute little asian girl . i didnt tip her cause i want to fark her or stand out. she lives off tips and when jerks like you make them do work and not reciprocate with money, it just doesnt make them feel good. i had every dealer before they left, genuinely ask my name to get to know me cause i have been going more. i guarantee that after a few more times of going there and her dealing, im pretty sure i can get her number for just being fun friendly and not demeaning her job. then when she comes out i just do my usual game and then maybe at a later time i will get to know her! intimately of course

not tipping makes u stand out even less and a worse way than if u tip more than everybody else. funny thing is, my table starting having more fun, cause i tip the dealers more, they talk, we start making jokes and having fun. it reciprocates and then everybody at the table is having more fun and we have dealers coming over and chilling while on break. not only that, but the girl who brought around drinks was a HB9-10. im sure after always making a good impression and having fun and standing out more cause i tip better and appreciate there job. im sure later that chick will hear about it and then maybe game her to.

its just bad manners to not tip even when u want to get to know them.

it was so bad that i won over 400 on a pot and tipped the guy 35. he tells me. damn dude r u sure. and i just say "wow come on. *look down*. i appreciate ur job bro. if i make a big pot i tip my dealer just like a waitress around 10-20%. then he tells me. thats more than i made in tips the last two nights. and im shocked. they deal for hours trading hundreds of dollars and then he cant even make 35. its just horrible how bad people tip. i got in an argument cause a guy won over 750 bucks and then throws the dealer 5 bucks. im like r u kidding. u just made 700 and u tip him 5 bucks. he doesnt tip so i was like ok. i tip 5 also just cause thats horrible. remember tipping doesnt mean ur trying to buy their attention. its just good manners

Thanks crob. believe it or not, that helped. I guess i just worry about them playing me too much. But what you and the PUAs makes sense. Whats a good rule of thumb for how much to tip?

That depends on what type of place you are at and what you are doing.
If I'm in a dive bar I do a dollar a drink.
Busy club I do at least 2 a drink.and pay cash. Better tips will get you quicker service. And you can gain value in a club by getting waited on first before others.

Other than that 18-20% at dinner.
A few bucks for valet.
And always tip your card dealers! They can make your life hell !!!
