What do you think of this opening?

I was at the food court of the mall today and I saw the cutest chick eating some vietnamese soup by herself, looking kinda bored. I thought of a way I could approach her, I'm just curious to see what you guys think, whether I should have done that or not.

I would walk up to her, say with a smile "Hi! Can you tell me where you bought that soup from?". Then I could follow with "Alright thanks. Is it any good?".

Then, gauging her reaction (i.e. how much she is smiling, how friendly she is being), I would either just leave or try to follow up with something like "So, are you waiting for someone?". When she says no, I go "You mind if I sit?". Then we start talking about whatever...

I personally don't like opening with a series of questions, unless they have some emotion added to them like, "Hey that soup looks great, is that vietnamese?" because then you can start off positive and glide.

But overall, it doesn't really matter what you approach with, anything beats not approaching

Very creative way to start an Opener. Easiest way is to use things that are around you to start an opener.

You have the right idea, you should have just said that.

the " mind if I sit?" part is very bad, thats approval seeking, your giving her all the power with that line, dont ask, just sit and go into your routine remember to time constraint like " I only got a few minutes" or " I have to get back to my friends in a few" and maybe " I can only stay a second"

that seems like the best opening for that situation. when i try to approach girls in the day who look bored and are just minding their own business i find the most non intrusive openers work best (at least for me).

What i would do is, the above opener ^^^ but going into the set i would have already tried to construct a dhv story in my head about soup or Vietnamese culture (or women). Youd have to think quick obviously given the situation but it'd work great if it went like....

"Hey that soup looks great is it Vietnamese? Just looking at that hot soup reminds me of this time my little brother spilled hot soup right in his lap......" etc etc continue DHV story

"Hey that soup looks great is it Vietnamese? Oh cool, i had this roommate and SHE was Vietnamese. She would make me soup like that sometimes! ......"etc etc u (u can of course show preselection by throwing in how u had to move out cuz she started thinking of you more than just a roomate. u can even say she knew u liked her Vietnamese soup and u thought she would make it for you just to get you to like her)

try to construct simple DHV stories in your head spontaneously like that and stack it with your openers. In day game situations, alot of times i feel the best way to hook a target is to tell her a story that you can stack with your opener. (doesnt matter how weak your opener is, a story will make it interesting. and it will set her at ease provided you get a laugh or two out of it)

In a case like this, your DHV story serves more of a purpose of setting her at ease, opening up the lone wolf set and building rapport. so dont just rely on a spontaneous DHV story that is stacked with your opener to build you all the value you need. U wil need to build more value after you've done this technique.

I'm sure there'll be another hot chick in the food court eating soup, corn dogs, or ice cream that you can try this on at another time.

The ability to create spontaneous DHV stories is a skill set that will set you apart from the rest of the pua's out there. Developing it is golden, because its great for Day Game.

I'd sit down right across from her

"What are you doing?" (She'll most likely ask)
"Im going to sit here and you and I are going to have a great conversation"

Just something assertive like that might work, I havent done it but it has worked for some friends

But seriously, a simple confident smile and a "hi" would have probably worked wonders. Possibly followed by a bit of humor: "Your soup looks bomb right now, can I try it?" Try dropping the story telling and dhv routines and save them for later in the interaction IF its necessary to fuel the conversation. Woman are smart, they know it when we're BS'ing :]. Simple is Sexy. If you're a cool guy with conversational skills you don't need to open with anything but Hello :]
