I like to go situational first, opinion openers as a back up, and then occasionally mix in a direct (depending on if it's day/night game).
Let's say you are in a bar and you want to do a situational Opener. First, make sure you are with some friends or if not just chat up the first group you see, just keep your social proof high as you start looking for targets.
Then, look for a set to approach and think of an observation such as:
- clothing/jewelry they have on, hair style etc.
- music that is on, something about the layout of the bar
- other people around you, "hey did you guys notice...etc."
You can even make one up: "I swear, there are these two ladies over there that must be like 50" and then follow up "do you guys think you'll still go to clubs when you're that age?" Anything that starts a fun conversation.
Honestly, just be confident and talk loud. Have strong body language and position yourself right in the group. After a minute you need to transition away from the opener anyway, so it isn't all that important what exactly you say. Better to approach and say anything, then not approach at all.
Best,
