How do you stop being nervous?

Im supossed to hang out with this girl for the first time and Im really nervous; sometimes I think I wont be as funny as I usually am or Ill do something wrong. And a lot of people call me the funniest person they know. What do I do to calm this?

This is morbid, but, remember, you do have a finite life. You will indeed die someday. Even if you live to be 100, that's not a lot of time. Also, I listen to funny and upbeat music. I have found the key to being great around beautiful women is to be in a great mood.

I have a fullproof method that always works for getting rid of nervousness/Approach Anxiety: Man up. You do have a pair of balls don't you?

lol @ blue, Your putting way to much value on this "hang out" your putting a female on a pedestal, take her down, treat her like one of your friends,tune down the "funniest guy" or she'll think your a clown and she would only hang out with you for a laugh, during this hang out touch her light on the arm, put your arm around her for a sec..the more you touch her the more she will think about you after the hang out , hope this helps

Don't even aim to be the funniest person for her... just be fun company. Don't aim to make her laugh so much that she gets tired to actually remember that you touched, connected, etc. Don't be a clown, be interesting.

you want her to have a grand time with you, not just a grand time.

I'm not sure if you have any siblings but, talk to her as if she was your little sister without being demeaning. That means being playful, fun (you can do this already), and witty.

When you are nervous, you radiate an outward appearance that is more attractive to woman than when you are not. Being nervous is not bad. When a woman can tell when you are nervous she might think it's cute too. Its being nervous AND awkward that's bad. When you can't get over yourself to the point that you keep stressing over something you did that she might even thought was funny, you dig a hole for yourself. I used to be really nervous around women. It wasn't until recently that I started to be able to relax completely and engage women in convo. The funny thing is that now that I'm not nervous, I usually realize that most woman I talk to are the ones that are nervous. I see them doing things I used to do when I talked to hot women. Makes you remember that women are people too.
Basically if you are feeling nervous, the best thing to do is to look her in the eye and say "Damn, I feel nervous". Once you start talking about it, it goes away because you addressed it. No girl is gonna be like "ugh what a loser" and walk away. She'll take it as a compliment and think your joking. If she does act like a b*tch, then your wasting your time with her anyway and she shouldn't be worth your time.
If you are nervous, that means your body is telling you that you should definitely go for it. Those are nerves of excitement! So take this advice and don't be like other people who say yea that makes sense. Talk To Women!! It's fun!!
Another thing that helps is to find out what kind of woman she is while talking to her. Make it like an interview kinda game. Not you asking her questions but your like a detective finding out what she's really like. This will make you not focus so much on your nerves. Don't be afraid to be yourself even if she doesn't laugh at your jokes. Your not trying to please her, your trying to hang out with her.

That's it, stop overthinking things.. Be yourself, make her laugh, show her some Kino, tease her.. Don't think about it man, just be yourself.
