How should I answer?

Recently I have seen it coming up more, because I haven't been initiating very many text conversations with girls that I used to talk with a lot, and they all seem to notice and call me out on it. They'll say something such as: "Why don't you ever text me anymore?" or something of that sort, and I'm never really too sure how to answer. I usually just say something along the lines of, "it's 50%-50%, you don't text me and I don't text you." Or something similar.. I need something better to say when asked that question, because I'm not really sure how to answer it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I usually say...

"ohh, I thought you rather me call you"

OR

"if you really wanted me to text or trying to imply you missing me, just text me instead"

OR

"are you actually telling me, you miss me sending you a few words?"

OR

"was teaching my grandmother how to text me, and she texted to girls with cool names on my contacts. Guess she didn't like you"

OR

"I'm busy most of the time type words, BUT call me for a coffee and that'd be more fun then reading .. hello"
