How to NOT get your account suspended or deleted

One of the PRO’s of Facebook is that it hasn’t been tainted with fake profiles and spam like MySpace. This is because it has VERY STRICT anti-spam guidelines. Unfortunately, they’re too strict. Facebook’s automated spam detectors will suspend or delete your account if it interprets your actions as “suspicious.”

“Suspicious” actions include:

• Sending too many friend requests in a short period of time.
• Poking too many people in a short period of time.
• Sending too many messages in a short period of time.
• Joining too many micro networks in a short period of time.

Facebook won’t reveal or admit how much is “too many” or how long is “a short period of time”. So me and my crew tested the system and concluded that as long as you keep it under 20 messages per day you should be fine. It sucks that spam solicitors have to ruin it for the rest of us, but as long as you adjust to the system you should be okay.


However, IF the Facebook police come after you, here's what to do:

I Got WARNED …What Should I Do?

Receiving a “warning” from Facebook means you’ve been flagged as a potential spammer. If this happens you’ll need to lay low for a while and when I say “a while” I mean don’t send more than 5 messages to new girls at a time for about 3 months. Getting a warning from Facebook is like being put on the FBI watch list…everything you do from now on will be closely monitored. We don’t officially know how long it takes for the warning to expire but it’s at least 3 months.


I Got SUSPENDED …What Should I Do?

If you get suspended/disabled/deactivated there’s only one thing to do…email Facebook’s customer service and beg them to reactivate your account. Oh, and be sure to provide as much proof as possible that you’ve done nothing wrong. Once the customer service rep sees you’re a legitimate user he or she will reinstate your account. Once you’re back up and running there’s a good chance you’ll still be on their watch list so stay low for a while.


I Got DELETED …What Should I Do?

Unfortunately, you’re pretty much screwed. It’s time to create a new account because your old one is probably FUBAR (farked Up Beyond All Repair).

Last month one of our experimental accounts was deleted so we contacted the Facebook Staff for an explanation. Here was Facebook’s response:

Facebook aspires to be an environment where people can interact safely with their friends and people they know. Accordingly, we expect accounts to reflect mainly your "real-world contacts," as one of Facebook's main priorities is the Comfort and safety of our users.

It is a violation of Facebook's Terms of Use to harass others on the site, whether through unsolicited messages, friend requests, pokes or other features. We do not endorse contacting strangers, which may be considered annoying or abusive. Finally, sending threatening, sexually explicit, or harassing messages is strictly prohibited.

This is bullSh1t because it contradicts the site’s core mission — to help people connect and communicate. I read about a woman whose account was deleted because she sent out the same message to 50 of her Facebook friends (not strangers). The message regarded the schedule for their upcoming high school reunion. When her account was deleted she lost all her contacts, photos, friends, etc.

The most common cause for instant deletion is user complaints. I’m specifically talking about girls reporting your message as spam instead of just ignoring or deleting it. Unfortunately, the “Report Spam” button is right next to the “Delete” button, so they don’t even have to go out of their way. Bitches and cream!

We don’t know specifically how many messages have to be reported as spam for your account to be deleted, but it’s not that many. I would venture to guess if you send out 20 openers and 4 or 5 of them get marked as spam you could be in trouble.
