Help With Facebook Number Close

the following conversation has been taking place over Facebook private message over the span of a couple of weeks. what should i say next, in order to Number Close? how should i time my responses? what should be my strategy?

April 28, ME:
give me your number

April 28, HER:
were you the John that messaged me on tumblr that he was going to USC, too?

April 28, ME:
yes...

April 28, HER:
Oh ok, figured it was you, but I don't think I'm even going to apply to usc anymore

April 28, ME:
i want to call you

April 28, HER:
just tell me what's up here?

May 9, HER:
?

May 13, ME:
honestly just wanted to call you. no need to be a dork about it :P

May 13, HER:
oh haha XD

May 13, HER:
I was just curious cause we haven't spoken in a long time and I thought it was pretty random

I'm sorry but that was terrible.. Give me your number.. That's what you open with??!? And you guys haven't spoken in a while.. At least get a conversation going, then when you think you have hit the peek of the conversation, tell her you got to go and tell her to give you her number and you'll give her a call sometime. That whole Facebook IM convo was a little creep.

thanks for your bluntness. in retrospect it does sound a little creep. at the time, i thought "give me your number " would be an alpha Opener. i just wanted to #close asap, and we have a slight rapport so i thought she would go for it, and that way i could spin my infinitely better phone game. stupid on my part. but I think you failed to notice this was not an IM convo, but more like email correspondence. thats why i included the dates of the messages. i think it shows some interest on her part that she responded a second time even after 11 days. and then again the same day i responded. going back to my original post, i still don't know whether i should respond with a cocky answer like "youre right, why would i wanna talk to you :P" or "so let's talk " followed by small talk. any ideas on how to salvage this?

Firstly, you need to gain more rapport with her, tease her a bit and get to know her better. You have to get her laughing and feeling a bit comfortable with you. Tell her more about USC, tell her what she's missing and you're one of them

today, two days after her last message, i responded with:

"we've actually never spoken verbally haha but it's cool. i have a feeling your phone game isn't half as entertaining as you complaining about oblivious boys on your blog xD"

thoughts?

Not something I would say, but just see what she says from there.

she said:
"sure we have but a really long time ago."

her reply was instant, but she ignored my teasing and didnt give me anything to work with. at this point, i need to be told exactly what to say.

i just responded with:
"i might've pecked u on the cheek and said hi. ever. anything after that, excluding reviewing each other's angsty poems, must've been too forgettable, in which case i have a long ways to run :P"

she replied:
"hah true true"
