after getting a number, how long to wait to text?

i think that texting the same day will come up as needy or as "he has been thinking about me for the whole time"

i usually wait a day so she thinks that i was busy with other sh1t and not only thinking about her..

what do you guys think?
should i text like 3-4 hours later or a day after or when?

I text them almost immediately with a contextual response (in the context of how I met her) that is funny....

mmm... If you wait another day to text her, she might think you're not too interested in her. I usually text a girl about 2-3 hours after we part ways. I text her just a simple hello.. "wassup?" thing...

I generally text soon after, if only to re-introudce who I am to make sure she keeps my number and keys in the proper name. And like Bill, I mention something contextual to refer to how we met.

Usually ill text the day after and be like hey it was nice meeting you at so and so place yesterday, it usually segways into some light flirting then the asking of another place to meet
