picking up neighbor

Hi,

I have a really cute neighbor, but I've had trouble starting a conversation. Often times I have been smoking a cigarette on my patio and I will see her doing the same on her patio. However, we're ~5 apartments away so I'd basically have to shout at her to open, and that doesn't seen right.

I have seen her walking by a couple of times, and I've said "Hi/how are you doing?" each time, but have never gotten past that. Also we both live on the 2nd floor, so that seems to make it a little more difficult/awkward to just walk over and open. But maybe that's just me making excuses.

This is my first post, so it might help to disclose that I am a rAFC. I have not been an AFC my whole life, just fell into a really bad slump. Also, any forewarnings as to problems that are likely to arise between "un-exclusive" neighbors would be appreciated.

You just need to approach her and start a simple conversation, once you felt that you have built some rapport with the girl, ask her to smoke with you and you guys talk.

It is not weird to just walk over when smoking and Start A Conversation. It is weird to act like you dont see each other while the both of you know better. Jeez ive been such a dumb smuck again today
