Think I Messed Up - girl texted me that she is single

This girl I hang out with sometimes texted me yesterday and said "I'm single". I responded with "me too wanna hang out?" I think I acted a little too desperate. Any thoughts? If so any advice on how to recover from this?

Haha, seems like a text out of the blue that says "I'm single" opens the door for all kinds of funny responses. Do you ever talk on the phone? Did she just have a breakup? Sounds like she's feeling like a rebound and you're the invite. Call her up, text messages can leave all kinds of room for misunderstanding.

you should've made fun of her. I like to suggest they hit on some random/weird guy that I know they won't like just to tease them. Or you could have texted "have you tried match.com?" or one of the others like eharmony.com.

I've only done this once at a bar with this girl I had isolated, but I said "if ur single, why don't you get online, lot's of quality men there." (said sarcastically). And she started laughing first, and then saying how all those guys suck and she wanted a guy with a sense of humor and touching my hair and stuff.

In short, when a girl invites you to say "hey, I'll date you. I'm single." disqualify yourself instead by suggesting she do online dating, or date some weirdo you both know, or a 40 year old guy etc. It should make her laugh and make you come across as a non-needy guy with a sense of humor. Try it next time.

Yeah, simply sending back a text that only said eharmony.com would have been pretty hilarious, but as long as you followed it up with a "soft invite." A soft invite is when you invite a girl to do something with you, under the guise of you would do it anyway, or you just really feel like doing it, not because you want to entertain her or whatever. An example would be to say something like "I haven't been minigolfing in eons. My olympic-level minigolfing skills should not be so hidden from the world, wanna go with me Saturday?"

However, I also think you might be kind of overthinking this. Man, everyone makes mistakes. The goal of game really isn't perfection as it is doing things right the vast majority of the time, and knowing how to recover when need be. I've violated some pretty huge game maxims with some girls and still wound up just fine. Sometimes being a little vulnerable or "beta" is a bit of a good thing, because it can be endearing if not done often.

I agree totally!! Always use the situation, especially when its sooooo generously offered like this, to work it into d close.

I would've hit her back with a text like this

"hmmm, i see...i'm going to the mall tomorrow for some stuff i gotta do, you better come with me..."
then once you're there, subtly neg her by pointing out LHV guys or self help books.....do so in a charming way and you'll be set!!
