the curse of the "aww" response...

This girl I knew in college, we are kind of reconnecting after 3 years. She lives in DC, me in NYC, so we don't really talk that often. But we text eachother every now and then, every few weeks or so. On New years I texted her a 'happy new year (name)' message. The next day she texted me "you txted me right at midnight, made me feel speshul." I responded, "aww."

That was it. Haven't heard from her since. It's been two weeks now.

Should I have said something more? Was the "aww" kind of cold, considering she kind of put herself out there? I wasn't trying to play mind games or be aloof, I just didn't know how else to respond.

(keep in mind we have a long history of playing mind games with eachother, but that was in college, we're both a bit older now)

lol "aww" by itself is a convo killer its like texting "lol" or "ok" you didnt try to push the convo forward, shouldve followed up like "awww you are speshul how bout next year we plan a way to spend it together"

Haha... shoudn't girls be the only ones saying aww And usually when I hear a girl say that I quip, "no honey, cats say meow, not awww"

anyway,, i'd go text her now and say.... "speshul, who did you think was the best dressed at the golden globes and why?"

How should I re-initiate?

I got one good trick for making sure chicks respond texting. Give her TWO things to respond to in each text. Instead of just "aww", how about "aww...just doing my job sexy". Not to say that my second part is the greatest BUT it's waaaaaay too easy to not reply to a message that doesn't contain ANYTHING to respond to. I do the same thing to chicks, it's like, wtf am I supposed to say to that? Sometimes I rapid fire two texts in a row which works well too.

In the future, if you accidentally say something like this, respond back immediately with something that continues the convo, so the comment you just made doesn't end the convo. I've done similar things with girls before, so I just say something else right away and that keeps the convo going.
