girls send a jumble of words as a text-- is there a hint?

I've known this girl for a while, since I was 20 and she was 18. There has always been a latent sexual attraction between us. Basically, we had a jealousy fight and didn't talk for 2 years, then she calls me out of the blue one day and I guess we start being on friendly terms again. On new years, i sent her a txt saying "happy new year" and she sent responded "you sent that right at midnight, made me feel speshul" (for those who read my previous posts, this is the same girl). I responded "aww" and we haven't texted since, until last night.

This is the breakdown.

Me (9:02PM): hope things are well
her (9:35): They are! How are things with you?
me (9:42): Been okay, i ran over a cat yesterday, made me sad but it was kind of funny in a way
(1.5 hour silence gap)
her (11:14) What?? How is that funny?
(I am drunk at this point)
me (11:33) It wasn't really but basically this cat was a hissy piece of sh1t, my boy's gf owned it and joked about how much he wanted to kill it... i backed over it in his driveway accidentaly, huge drama show, they might break up. I feel pretty bad. For the cat too.

What should I make of this? Was the cat story too reaction-seeking?

Inner game. You're never "okay," you're always GREAT. even when you run over a cat. You feel bad about it (even when or if it is made-up), but it doesn't change your overall outlook on life.

Reaction seeking? You got what you wanted when you initially injected the story. She reacted and opened you up. You didn't need the rest. Instead of opening up with "hope things are well," you could've just opened up with "been great, but I ran over a cat yesterday. Hope you are well."

Give it a few days, then stop wasting time. Go after a meet-up. Tell her you've ran over three more cats that week, and that you need proximity to someone who hasn't run over cats to dampen the trend.

she found that you find killing a cat kind of funny to be shocking , she had nothing to say to you after that, hence the hour gap, reaction seeking isnt a good idea for a target you barely have control of

Hi VirusCat... not arguing, just trying to work with you helping this kid. I'm not sure "What?? How is that funny?" is the kind of response that takes an hour to think. It's a simple; probably just more about when it was convenient for her to check and notice. Don't think about the "gaps" in TXT response too much, rjc.

But rjc, he's right. Looking for a reaction is something you do in person, with more familiarty. It is a part of your sense of humor, and they'll never get that. over TXT, it has to be ridiculously over the top so they think you might be kidding. She baited, and you told a sad story. no fun.

So I think've killed this cat. lesson learned, stories about dead cats aren't funny to girls. But stories about rotting pu$$y is funny to guys.

Thing is, this girl lives in DC and I live in NJ. It's more of a long-distance 'friendship.'

Basically what I wanted to know is, did I dlv in this interaction, and how do I dhv in the next text interaction to undo this one?

Well, you demonstrated low social intelligence by finding humor in running over cats.

If and when you have another interaction, tell her you've run over three new cats. And that you're aiming for nine in total more by Labor Day. Act as if you're serious. Then in the same tone, "after which I'm switching to party clowns."

The point is to get her to think you were kidding. Go volunteer at the Humane Society for a day, and if the conversation comes up, you can honestly use this experience to DHV that you could never hurt animals intentionally.
